The battery module can include a plurality of battery cells arranged in a horizontal direction, the battery cell can include an electrode assembly and a battery case, and the electrode assembly can be accommodated in the battery case. The electrode assembly can include a first electrode sheet, a second electrode sheet, and a separator disposed between the first and second electrode sheets, wherein the dimension of the battery module in the horizontal direction can be larger than that in the vertical direction of the battery module. The electrode assembly can be of a wound structure or of a laminated structure. The present disclosure can effectively reduce the expansion deformation of the battery module.
