  • Publication number: 20230306026
Abstract: An approach for optimizing statistical query performance. The approach receives a structured query language set. The approach identifies a first set of parameters associated with the statements of the SQL set. The approach creates a merged SQL statement based on one or more matching parameters of SQL statements in the SQL set. The approach binds a second set of parameters associated with the merged SQL statement to the merged SQL statement. The approach generates a SQL statement based on the merged SQL statement. The approach generates a remote SQL statement based on the SQL statement. The approach executes a commit statement on the remote SQL statement.

  • Patent number: 11354312
Abstract: A federated database-management system receives an SQL query or other type of data-access request. The federated system's host DBMS parses, rewrites, and optimizes the request into an optimal data-access plan, then determines which portions of the plan require access to data stored on the federated systems' remote databases. The federated host partitions the plan into subplans that each represent instructions of the original data-access request that were directed to a corresponding remote database of the federated DBMS. Each subplan is then transmitted to its corresponding remote database, which directly executes the subplan and returns results to the host. If necessary, a subplan is translated from an original generic access-plan format into a database-specific format required by its corresponding remote database.

  • Patent number: 7207722
Abstract: A combined bearing includes a main body (10) and a mating member (30). The main body is generally cylindrical, with an axial hole (16) and a cutout (18) defined therein. The cutout is generally semi-cylindrical and spans from an outer surface (14) of the main body to the axial hole of the main body. The mating member has a same configuration as the cutout of the main body and can be inserted into the cutout to provide a complete cylinder having the axial hole therein. The main body and the mating member are made of different materials, one is metal alloy which is capable of impregnating lubricant oil therein, the other is ceramic having high hardness. Thus, the combined bearing may combine the advantages of an oil impregnated bearing and the advantages of a ceramic bearing.

  • Patent number: 7155831
Abstract: A ceramic cutting tool (100) is for high speed cutting of light, thin and soft materials. The ceramic cutting tool includes an upper blade (10) and a lower blade (20) both made of ceramic material. The upper and lower blades therefore possess extremely high hardness, and excellent wear resistance and heat resistance. This increases an operating lifetime of the ceramic cutting tool. Furthermore, the lower blade can alternatively be a lower blade assembly (30). The lower blade assembly includes a metal base (32), and a ceramic edge insert (31) detachably mounted in the metal base. If the ceramic edge insert becomes worn or is damaged, it can be easily replaced by a new ceramic edge insert. There is no need to replace the metal base.
