  • Patent number: 5122157
Abstract: A process for bleaching domestic laundry in a household wash cycle, comprising prewashing the laundry in an alkaline bath with a pH value between 9 and 13 and at a temperature between about 40.degree. C. and 70.degree. C. in the presence of at least one peroxide bleaching agent and an uncomplexed barium, said barium being present in an amount between about 0.5.times.10.sup.-3 and 250.times.10.sup.-3 gram-atoms per kg of bath.
    Type: Grant

    Assignee: Atochem
    Inventors: Bernard Dubreux, Yann Dugenet
  • Patent number: 4783194
Abstract: A process for decontaminating textiles contaminated by bacteria comprising washing said textiles with a detergent composition free of any peroxide bleaching agent, and then treating said textiles with a peroxide bleaching agent in an aqueous bath at a pH of between about 9 and 13, at a temperature of between about 40.degree. to 70.degree. C., in the presence of calcium, for a time sufficient to decontaminate said textiles; said calcium rendered soluble and uncomplexed and being present in an amount between about 0.001 to 1% by weight based on the weight of the bath with the source of calcium being selected from calcium oxide, calcium hydroxide, or a calcium salt whose anion is inert with respect to the peroxide bleaching agent and whose dissociation constant is above about 0.01.

  • Patent number: 4775382
Abstract: A process for bleaching household laundry in a wash cycle, comprising a first stage in said cycle in which the laundry is washed in the presence of a detergent composition free of any peroxide-type bleaching agent at a temperature between about 40.degree. to 60.degree. C. and a pH between about 8 and 12, rinsing said laundry, and subjecting said laundry to a second stage in said cycle in which said rinsed laundry is washed in the absence of any detergent and in the presence of at least one peroxide-type bleaching agent and an activator at a temperature between about 40.degree. to 60.degree. C. and a pH between about 9 and 13.
