  • Patent number: 7251368
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of modifying data in an encoded data signal 125 corresponding to successive pictures divided into sub-pictures, for providing an output modified data signal 126. In particular, this invention can be used for the insertion of an additional data signal 127 into a compressed video signal 125. The proposed schemes according to the invention are based on a transcoder arrangement including at least partial decoding means and partial re-encoding means. This method leads to a cost-effective solution compared to the prior art comprising a minimum number of functional sub-steps, in particular including a unique motion compensation sub-step 205, taking advantage of simplifications and combinations between different sub-steps.

  • Patent number: 6628712
Abstract: A switching device SW allows to switch from a first compressed data input stream IS1 to a second compressed data input stream IS2, resulting in a compressed data output stream OS. This switching device comprises a buffer system BS intended to store the data contained in the first and second input streams, and control means CONT which controls the storage of the input streams in the buffer system in order to switch, at a switch request SWR, from the first input stream to the second input stream, using a commutation device COM. A transcoding system TS is intended to receive the data stream at the output of the commutation device and to provide the output stream in a seamless way. The use of a transcoding system allows to avoid an underflow or an overflow of the buffer of the decoder that will have to decode the output stream.

  • Publication number: 20020136308
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of generating a down-sampled video from a coded video, said down-sampled video being composed of output down-sampled frames having a smaller format than input frames composing said coded video, said input coded video being coded according to a block-based technique and comprising quantized DCT coefficients defining DCT blocks, said method comprising an error decoding step for delivering a decoded data signal from said coded video, said error decoding step comprising at least a variable length decoding sub-step applied to said quantized DCT coefficients in each DCT block for delivering variable length decoded DCT coefficients defining, a prediction step for delivering a motion-compensated signal of a previous output frame, an addition step for adding said decoded data signal to said motion-compensated signal and resulting in said output down-sampled frames.

  • Patent number: 6219100
Abstract: A method is disclosed for communication between a plurality of stations. The method includes selecting a master station, which becomes responsible for building and broadcasting at least one service information table (such as the tables defined in MPEG or DVB), and communicates with the (N−1) to the other stations, known as slave stations, in a limited number of situations corresponding to modifications of the content of the tables and according to a specific table management, where the master station is always in one of three states that are either a waiting state, or a building state, or a transferring state, and specific communication rules for the slave stations and the master station.
