  • Publication number: 20040100195
Abstract: The invention provides a plasma display panel including a number of first display units and a number of second display units, wherein the first and second display units are composed of plural sustaining electrodes, scanning electrodes, data electrodes. The sustaining electrodes and scanning electrodes form at least two adjacent electrode combinations, namely the first electrode combination and the second electrode combination, wherein each electrode combination includes one sustaining electrode and one scanning electrode. Data electrodes are disposed along a direction approximately orthogonal to these sustaining electrodes and scanning electrodes. The first display unit corresponds to the first primary color and is controlled by the first data electrode and the first electrode combination while the second display unit corresponds to the second primary color and is controlled by the first data electrode and the second electrode combination.

  • Patent number: 6621215
Abstract: A front plate of a plasma display panel (PDP) comprising a glass substrate, a auxiliary electrode formed in the glass substrate, and a protecting electrode over the auxiliary electrode is disclosed. The auxiliary electrode is inlaid in the glass substrate or in a buffer layer formed atop the glass substrate. The protecting electrode is formed to prevent a bonding auxiliary electrode of the auxiliary electrode from being oxidized easily during a high temperature process. Another front plate of a PDP is disclosed and includes a glass substrate, a sustaining electrode on the glass substrate, an auxiliary electrode on the sustaining electrode, and a protecting electrode disposed on the auxiliary electrode. Again, the protecting electrode is formed to prevent the bonding auxiliary electrode of the auxiliary electrode from being oxidized easily during a high temperature process.

  • Publication number: 20030020404
Abstract: A method of fabricating a plasma display panel and a front plate of the plasma display panel are disclosed. The first step of the method is to provide a front glass substrate having a pixel area and a bonding area. Next, an electrode, which has a pixel electrode positioned at the pixel area and a bonding electrode positioned at the bonding area, is formed on the front substrate. Then, a dielectric layer is formed over the pixel area and the bonding area to cover the pixel electrode and the bonding electrode, respectively. Thereafter, a rear plate is sealed to the front substrate by a sealing material so that the rear plate covers the pixel area without covering the bonding area. Then, the dielectric layer formed on the bonding area is removed to expose the bonding electrode.

  • Patent number: 6507150
Abstract: A front plate of a plasma display panel includes a substrate, a transparent electrode formed on the substrate, and an auxiliary electrode having a first part formed on the transparent electrode and a second part directly formed on the substrate, a dielectric layer formed on the transparent electrode and the first part of the auxiliary electrode, and an isolating layer formed between the substrate and the auxiliary electrode, at a position where the boundary of the dielectric layer intersects the upper surface of the auxiliary electrode. The isolating layer can prevent the auxiliary electrode from being peeled from the substrate.

  • Publication number: 20020084750
Abstract: An electrode structure of a plasma display panel (PDP) is disclosed. The electrode structure is formed on a front substrate of the PDP. The electrode structure includes a first sustaining electrode, a second sustaining electrode, and an auxiliary electrode. The first and second sustaining electrodes are formed on the substrate with a first gap existing there between. The auxiliary electrode is formed in the first gap. A second gap is formed between the auxiliary electrode and the second sustaining electrode. The second gap is smaller than the first gap.

  • Publication number: 20020063528
Abstract: A plasma display device is disclosed. The plasma display device has a first panel and a second panel parallel to each other. A dielectric layer is formed on the second panel, a plurality of barrier ribs are formed on the dielectric layer, and a plurality of buffer layers are formed opposite to the barrier ribs. The buffer layers have a first softening temperature, the barrier ribs have a second softening temperature, and the first softening temperature is lower than the second softening temperature. The buffer layers can be deformed and compassed at a temperature higher than the first softening temperature during a process for sealing the first and second panels, so as to unify heights of the barrier ribs.

  • Patent number: 6344714
Abstract: A plasma display panel device which can enlarge the bright region of a PDP with a given pixel size is provided. The auxiliary electrode of the plasma display panel device contacts not only the transparent electrode but also the substrate in order to avoid the auxiliary electrode being peeled off during the manufacturing process. Furthermore, the position of the auxiliary electrode is changed so the bright region between the pair of auxiliary electrodes is enlarged.

  • Patent number: 6113449
Abstract: A front plate for a plasma display panel (PDP) and its modified fabricating method are provided using a backside exposure process and an appropriate processing sequence rearrangement to reduce the number of photomasks required and improve the accuracy of exposure and developing process. First, a light-shielding layer is patterned by performing a mesh printing process, or by performing an exposure and developing process using a first photomask, so as to form a light-shielding structure including black stripes and transparent electrodes' gaps. Next, using the light-shielding structure as a mask, a backside exposure and developing process as well as an etching process is performed to form a plurality of pairs of transparent electrodes on the substrate. Then, using a second photomask, another set of exposure, developing and etching processes are performed to form a plurality of pairs of metal electrodes on the corresponding transparent electrodes.
