  • Publication number: 20170153852
Abstract: A packet buffer stores packet data of packets received by a master device. The packet buffer includes a non-guaranteed buffer, a guaranteed buffer, and a reserved buffer. The non-guaranteed buffer is visible to the master device, and is not guaranteed to provide one free cell space for one cell in a first-type packet before the non-guaranteed buffer is full. The guaranteed buffer is visible to the master device, and is guaranteed to provide one free cell space for one cell in a second-type packet before the guaranteed buffer is full. The reserved buffer is invisible to the master device, and is arranged to provide headroom for the guaranteed buffer.

  • Publication number: 20140321279
Abstract: A random early drop (RED) based processing circuit includes a scheduler, an RED-based decision logic and a controller. The scheduler generates a trigger event according to an RED-based operation schedule. The scheduler is coupled to a software interface, and the RED-based operation schedule in the scheduler is programmed via the software interface. The RED-based decision logic performs at least a first RED-based operation to generate a first RED decision accordingly. The controller receives at least the trigger event, and triggers the RED-based decision logic to perform the first RED-based operation according to at least the trigger event.

  • Patent number: 8559280
Abstract: The invention provides a method for data recording of an optical disk drive. First, raw data is encoded to obtain a plurality of recording units of encoded data to be stored in a memory. The encoded data stored in the memory is then recorded to an optical disk. A predetermined number of recording units of the encoded data is then reserved in the memory as reserved data without being recorded onto the optical disk. The recorded data read from the optical disk is then compared to the corresponding encoded data stored in the memory to verify correctness of the recorded data. The reserved data is then recorded to the optical disk after correctness verification of the recorded data is completed. Finally, the aforementioned steps are repeated until there is no more raw data left as a source for encoding.

  • Patent number: 7836334
Abstract: A system for transferring data read from a data storage medium. The system comprises a memory unit, a controller, a memory management logic, and an output interface. The memory unit stores the data. The controller compares at least one address of the data with at least one defect address and generates a defect notification signal indicating the comparison result. The memory management logic calculates the amount of the data stored in the memory unit for transfer and generates a calculation signal according to the amount of the data and the defect notification signal received from the controller. The output interface retrieves the data from the memory unit and transfers the retrieved data according to the calculation signal received from the memory management logic.

  • Publication number: 20080065825
Abstract: An optical storage device includes a pickup head, an input interface, a memory and a memory control unit. The pickup head is for reading a piece of data from a disk. The input interface has an input data processor, and the input data processor has a buffer for registering the piece of data. The memory has a number of blocks. The memory control unit includes a memory access device and a buffer valid access device. The memory access device is for reading the piece of data from the input data register and writing the piece of data into one of the blocks. The buffer valid check device is for checking whether a next written-in block is a valid block, When the next written-in block is the valid block, the buffer valid check device controls the memory access device to stop writing the piece of data into the next written-in block.
