  • Patent number: 7854672
Abstract: A ball includes a core and a surface cover that is formed by sewing together two shape-mated covering pieces. Each covering piece has a close-to-edge area defining inboards an inward circumferential zone in which spaced through apertures are defined. The through apertures are circumferentially distributed along the inward circumference of the close-to-edge area. The close-to-edge area has an outward circumference forming a turn-back section. The turn-back section is foldable over and attached to itself by adhesives so as to form a smooth and regular outer circumference of the covering piece. When the surface cover of the ball is completely sewn, a sewn portion between the two covering pieces shows a smooth and regular configuration so that no secondary finishing of the sewn portion of the covering pieces is needed. The manufacturing time of the ball can thus be shortened and the manufacturing costs reduced.

  • Publication number: 20080020874
Abstract: A softball includes a core, a separation layer, and a cover. The core is made of polyurethane that has high compression displacement. The separation layer is formed by wrapping, in a laminated manner, yarns around the core and soaking the wrapping yarns in adhesives. The cover is made of soft skin and includes a buffering layer formed on an inside surface thereof. When the durability of the softball is improved by increasing the compression displacement of the core, the buffering layer provided on the inside surface of the cover provides counterbalance of the overall compression displacement of the softball in order to meet the requirement of the softball specifications.

  • Patent number: 7287479
Abstract: A stitch tightening device of a ball stitching machine comprises a ball stitching table having at least one clamping tool and a stitch tightening unit for tightening a thread to be assembled to a ball. The stitch tightening unit includes a set of thread clamping units at two sides of the clamping tool. The stitch control device is interconnected with and interacted with a first treadle through a driven element; and the stitch tightening unit has at least two clampers; the first treadle drives a control wire; and then the control wire drives the clamper so as to engage the thread clamping unit. The clamping head is connected to a second treadle through a linkage; and the second treadle drives the clamping head to move aside to be away from the stitch control device. The first treadle drives a control wire through a driven element.

  • Publication number: 20070161439
Abstract: A softball which includes a spherical core, a vapor block made of yarns which imbeds the spherical core and then is immersed into an adhesive agent to fill up clearances between the yams, and a cover made of two sheets of flexible material stitched together to enclose the vapor block, whereby even if the softball is stored in a humid environment or comes into contact with water when playing, no water or moisture can pass through the separation layer to the spherical core thereby extending the service life of the softball.

  • Patent number: 6666783
Abstract: A baseball (softball) includes a core and a pair of surface layers which are configured to enclose the core, wherein each of the surface layers is formed with an outer row of holes and an inner row of holes, the holes being formed in alternate order, and a needle with a thread is passed through the holes to stitch the two surface layers together thereby causing the thread to pull a portion between the holes and a circumferential edge of the surface layers to curve inwardly thereby forming a ridge, whereby the baseball is easy to manufacture and low in cost.
