  • Publication number: 20230240736
Abstract: There is provided herein an assemblable cryoneedle for performing a cryo-treatment, particularly but not limited to, for cryo-treatment of keloids and scars. According to some embodiments, the assemblable cryoneedle includes an outer elongated needle having a sealed distal portion, an inner elongated needle, and a connector, configured to connect and allow fluid communication therebetween. The inner elongated needle is configured to be inserted into the outer elongated needle, forming a double lumen configuration. The outer elongated needle is configured to be inserted into a treatment area of a subject.

  • Patent number: 6503246
Abstract: An intralesional method for treating a hypertrophic scar or keloid using a cryoprobe. The method comprises: (a) inserting the cryoprobe into the hypertrophic scar or keloid so that the cryoprobe is positioned within the hypertrophic scar or keloid; and (b) introducing a cryogen into the cryoprobe thereby freezing the hypertrophic scar or keloid. The cryoprobe has a sealed distal end comprising a cutting tip. Also disclosed is a cryoprobe comprising an elongated, uninsulated housing having a sealed distal end and a proximal end. The housing comprises therein a cryogen inlet tube. The cryoprobe further comprises a cutting tip at the distal end of the housing and a cryogen vent adjacent to the proximal end and in fluid communication with the interior of the housing.

  • Patent number: 6200318
Abstract: A tool kit for use in the inducement of the reconstitution and healing of the sternum after an operation on a patient in the chest region in which during the operation the sternum is cut into two hemisterna. The kit serves for the post-operational approximation and fixation of the hemisterna in a position which enables their spontaneous growing together. The kit includes an approximation tool for the application of a selected force to the hemisterna to brig them into reconstituted configuration, and a set of clamping apparatus for firmly locking the hemisterna in the reconstituted configuration. The clamping apparatus is made of a non-immunogenic polymeric material that is readily degraded in the patient's body to yield degradation products readily absorbed by the patient's body.

  • Patent number: 5895656
Abstract: The present invention relates to the treatment of keloid and hypertrophic scars by covering the scar with a gas-or gel-filled cushion made of smooth or textured silicone sheeting. It relates particularly to a cushion in the form of a hollow bag filled with completely dry air, inert gel or an inert gas. The invention also relates to a silicone sheeting cushion enclosing silicone beads, polymeric pieces or bodies made of polyfluoroethylene sheeting or a related polymer which produces a negative static charge or, preferably, a silicone sponge or hydrophobic gel, most preferably silicone gel.

  • Patent number: 5681561
Abstract: The present invention relates to compositions and methods for enhancing the success of autologous fat grafting in a patient. The compositions according to the present invention are useful for enhancing autologous fat grafting by improving the survival rate of lipocytes which are injected into a patient as part of a fat grafting procedure. These compositions comprise a fat grafting effective amount of autologous lipocytes in combination with a lipocyte growth effective amount of a non-steroidal anabolic hormone selected from insulin, triiodothyronine/thyroxine (T.sub.3 or T.sub.4), mixtures thereof, and optionally, growth hormone, most preferably a mixture of all three hormones because of the favorable effect these three hormones exhibit in combination to promote autologous fat grafting, the hormones being further combined with a lipocyte growth effective amount of a nutrient medium, preferably a serum free nutrient medium as at least a minimum essential medium.
