  • Patent number: 7280768
Abstract: A method and a system for performing pre-emphasis of one or more optical channels respectively carrying one or more optical signals, by effecting bit rate of the one or more of the signals, thereby adjusting BER value thereof.

  • Publication number: 20020071151
Abstract: A module for arbitrary configuring/reconfiguring a topology of optical networks, comprising at least one optical switching device connectable to an optical network, and a plurality of network elements connectable to the optical switching device(s). The optical switching device(s) are controllable to selectively connect thereto and disconnect therefrom one or more of the elements for switching them in or off the optical network. Preferably, the module is a pre-manufactured block suitable for insertion into the optical network, and the elements are connectable to the switching devices so that each of the elements can be either switched in the network, or bypassed.

  • Patent number: 6266527
Abstract: A telecommunications system and method is disclosed for measuring the bit error rate (BER) and power on up-link and down-link channels substantially simultaneously from a mobile terminal to enable real time analysis in the field. This can be accomplished by including an application within a memory in the mobile terminal, which can initiate Link Balance (LB) start and stop commands sent from the mobile terminal to the base station. The LB start command is sent from the MS to the base station, instructing the base station to measure the power and BER on the up-link and forward these measurements to the mobile terminal. Simultaneously, the mobile terminal can measure the power and BER on the down-link and determine the current location. The up-link measurements, down-link measurements, and location information can then be displayed to the technician in real time, either on the mobile terminal itself or on a laptop computer.

  • Patent number: 6078812
Abstract: A telecommunications system and method is disclosed for providing adaptive channel allocation for indoor cellular systems, which utilizes interference measurements on both the down-link channels and the up-link channels. This can be accomplished by using a Stand Alone Dual Channel Scanner (SADCS) to assist indoor cellular systems in allocating traffic channels on the basis of interference from external systems, which measures both the up-link and the down-link at the same time. A number of SADCSs can be placed at strategically located points in the building to measure interference on a channel by channel basis, and to communicate the results to the indoor base station, which can then allocate traffic channels with high confidence of maintaining a good speech quality.
