  • Publication number: 20150312215
Abstract: A method for optimizing delivery of digital information packets across a network of linked, packet switching nodes is disclosed. A suitably programmed computer translates business oriented requests into network technical requirements. The computer then uses knowledge including pre-stored or real-time discovered topographical maps of the network, and a database of the current attributes of the components of the network, to automatically determine settings for software addressable forwarding devices on the network to implement the network technical requirements. This may take the form of a security setting that may be delivered to a network security appliance such as a firewall. Each firewall may then configure all or part of the network via the software addressable switches at nodes under its control.

  • Patent number: 8798253
Abstract: At least one device receives a call request from a calling party to a called party. The device routes the call request to an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) core when a first condition is met and bypasses the IMS core when a second condition is met.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 28, 2006
Date of Patent: August 5, 2014
Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.

  • Patent number: 8737592
Abstract: A method includes receiving a telephone number mapping query associated with a call. The method may also include generating routing information based on the query and forwarding the routing information to a control device. The routing information may indicate that processing associated with routing the call is to bypass a core portion of an Internet multimedia subsystem (IMS) when a calling party associated with the call does not invoke an IMS service, the called party associated with the call does not invoke an IMS service and the called party is not an IMS subscriber.
