    Abstract: A method of generating oxygen including applying a potential of from 0.1 volts (V) to 2 V to an electrochemical cell and the electrochemical cell is at least partially submerged in an aqueous solution. On application of the potential, the aqueous solution is oxidized forming the oxygen. The electrochemical cell includes a counter electrode, and an electrocatalyst. The electrocatalyst includes a copper foam substrate and a nanocomposite. The nanocomposite includes iron oxide, cobalt oxide, and nickel oxide. Furthermore, particles of the nanocomposite are distributed on a surface of the copper foam substrate and the particles of the nanocomposite have a spherical shape with an average diameter of less than 500 nanometers (nm).

    Abstract: A method of synthesizing nanoparticles comprising TiO2 and marine-based materials is provided. The method comprises mixing a solution containing a titanium precursor with a marine plant extract to form a colloidal suspension; aging the colloidal suspension to form a gel; drying the gel; and grinding the gel to obtain a powder comprising nanoparticles comprising TiO2 and marine-based materials. Paint formulations comprising the nanoparticles and methods of using the same are also provided.
