Abstract: When a temporally compressed video stream is decoded and subsequently re-encoded, quality is typically lost. The quality loss may be mitigated using information about how the source video stream was encoded during the re-encoding process. According to some aspects of the disclosure, this mitigation of quality loss can be facilitated by decoders that output such information and encoders that receive such information. These decoders and encoders may be separate devices. The functionality of these decoders and encoders may also be combined in a single device, such as a transcoding device. An example of the information that may be used during re-encoding is whether each portion of the original stream was intra-coded or non-intra-coded.

Abstract: Methods and systems for providing content are disclosed. An example method can comprise receiving an encoding parameter associated with a first content transmission. The encoding parameter can indicate a level of complexity to encode the first content transmission. The method can comprise selecting, based on the encoding parameter, a second content transmission. The second content transmission can be encoded at a second bit rate that is different than a first bit rate of the first content transmission. The method can also comprise generating a third content transmission. The third content transmission can comprise the second content transmission.

Abstract: Methods and systems related to processing multiple data transmissions are disclosed. For example, a computing device may receive a data stream corresponding to a content item, and generate additional data streams by sampling the data stream, for example, using different sampling regions. Another data stream at a higher resolution than each of the additional data streams may then be generated by combining elements (e.g., pixels) of the additional data streams.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to management of information streams. The information streams can be delivered according to adaptive streaming mechanisms. In one aspect, a method of data stream management can comprise receiving a plurality of data streams having a specific bit rate and a segmentation signaling structure, comprising at least one segmentation signaling marker. The method may also comprise monitoring the segmentation signaling structure of at least one data stream and supplying, based on the monitoring, a metric indicative of compliance with a predetermined segmentation signaling structure.

Abstract: A method of data conditioning is disclosed that in one aspect includes receiving a data stream and encoding into the data stream information representing a boundary of a content fragment, wherein the boundary is independent of a group of pictures structure of the data stream.

Abstract: Systems and methods of adaptive streaming are discussed. Transcoded copies of a source stream may be aligned with one another such that the independently specified portions of each transcoded stream occur at the same locations within the content. These transcoded copies may be produced by one or more transcoders, whose outputs are synchronized by a delay adjuster. A fragmenter may use the synchronized and aligned streams to efficiently produce fragments suitable for use in adaptive streaming.

Abstract: A method and system for viewing video content is described. In one aspect a data stream may be received having at least two signals of uncorrelated two dimensional (2D) video content. For a first frame of video content, a first video image of the 2D video content of a first signal may be generated. For a second frame of video content, a second video image of the 2D video content of a second signal may be generated and the generated video image may be outputted to a display device.
