  • Publication number: 20240137591
Abstract: A first server device may store a first copy of a content item, and a second server device may store a second copy of the content item. A computing device may receive a request for the content item from a user device. The computing device may determine a user identifier associated with the user device and send, to the first and second server devices, the user identifier and an indication of the content item. The computing device may determine, based on a response by the first server device, at least one of a quality score or a recording score associated with the first copy of the content item, and the computing device may send, to the user device and based on the at least one of the first quality score or the first recording score, a portion of the first copy of the content item.

  • Publication number: 20230291913
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for improved adaptation logic and content streaming are described herein. Adaptation logic may allow a client device to request differing representations of content based on at least one service metric related to requesting and/or outputting the content. The client device may receive an indication when at least one frame of the content is encoded using an adaptive resolution change. The client device may determine the at least one service metric based on the indication.

  • Publication number: 20230275977
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for signaling server-associated delays in content delivery are described herein. Client devices in a content delivery network may use adaptation logic when requesting content. The adaptation logic may account for network conditions existing upstream of the client devices in the content delivery network. For example, content sources may provide content to the client devices along with one or more parameters that indicate upstream network conditions. These parameters may enable the client devices to use the adaptation logic more effectively when making rate adaptation decisions.

  • Publication number: 20220256215
Abstract: At least one content item may be received. At least one portion of the at least one content item during which the amount of motion associated with the at least one portion satisfies a threshold may be determined based on an amount of motion associated with the at least one content item. The at least one portion of the at least one content item in which a playback device can modify a rate of playback of the at least one content item may be indicated.

  • Publication number: 20220217451
Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for obfuscating variants of content segments. Variants of content segments can be used to encode an identifying sequence in a transmission of content. The duration parameter of a manifest entry can be modified by a random offset. The data size of variants of a given content segment can be equalized by adding one or more portions of data to one or more of the variants.

  • Publication number: 20220191508
Abstract: Methods and systems for improved content encoding are described herein. An encoder may allocate a time budget for encoding each frame of a content item. When the encoder takes longer than the allocated time budget to encode at least a portion of a given frame(s) of the content item at a first resolution, the encoder may take a number of actions in order to allow the encoder to “catch up,” such as encoding frames at a second resolution. Once the encoder catches up and the allocated time budget is not being exceeded, the encoder may resume encoding frames of the content item at the first resolution.

  • Publication number: 20220103832
Abstract: An encoder (e.g., a Versatile Video Coding (VVC) encoder, etc.) may make real-time encoding decisions to vary a bitrate of a content item (e.g., high-resolution video, streaming content, a movie, a show/program, etc.) by upsampling and/or downsampling portions (e.g., frames/slices, group of pictures (GOP), coding units (CU), coding tree units (CTU), etc.) based on a cost function that utilizes a versatile Lagrangian multiplier (denoted as A) to denote the versatility). The versatile Lagrangian multiplier may not only account for the effects of quantization (e.g., a quantization parameter (QP), etc.) on portions of the content item, instead, the versatile Lagrangian multiplier may also be based on adjustment parameters associated with content resolution and/or playback quality of experience (QoE).

  • Publication number: 20200099729
Abstract: Methods and systems for managing content are disclosed. As an example, a plurality of content fragment of a content asset may be generated and a plurality of time stamps may be associated with each of the plurality of fragments. A first time stamp may indicate a time a respective one of the plurality of fragments was generated and a second time stamp may represent an event time associated with one or more events of the network. As such, at least a portion of the plurality of content fragments may be transmitted to each of a plurality of content packagers, wherein at least the second time stamp associated with each of the plurality of fragments facilitates the alignment of the plurality of content packagers with each other.

  • Publication number: 20190068673
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for bandwidth reduction through duration averaging. An average duration of content segments can be determined. When the average segment duration exceeds a first threshold or falls below a second threshold, content segments can be encoded at new segment durations until the average segment duration falls below the first threshold and above the second threshold. When the average segment duration exceeds a first threshold or falls below a second threshold, an updated manifest including a modified segment duration parameter can be generated.

  • Publication number: 20170041624
Abstract: Systems and methods of adaptive streaming are discussed. Transcoded copies of a source stream may be aligned with one another such that the independently specified portions of each transcoded stream occur at the same locations within the content. These transcoded copies may be produced by one or more transcoders, whose outputs are synchronized by a delay adjuster. A fragmenter may use the synchronized and aligned streams to efficiently produce fragments suitable for use in adaptive streaming.
