  • Publication number: 20010047695
Abstract: A brake operating device in which a stable input/output characteristic of a brake pedal operation amount and a brake booster device transmitted amount can be obtained, and the input/output characteristic can easily be set to a desired form. In the brake operating device, a connecting pin of a push rod is fit in and connected with a connecting hole of a brake pedal. The connecting pin is fit in a guide hole of a guide plate. When the brake pedal swings, the connecting pin moves along the connecting hole while being guided by the guide hole, and a pedal ratio is changed. In this way, the input/output characteristic of the brake pedal operation amount and the brake booster device transmitted amount is non-linear. In this case, because frictional force is reduced, a predetermined, stable pedal ratio can be obtained. A pedal ratio corresponding to a desired characteristic can easily be obtained, and degrees of freedom in design increase.

  • Patent number: 6216827
Abstract: A disc rotor used in a disc brake which generates a vibration having a large component in the axial direction of the disc rotor when a brake pad is pressed against the disc rotor. The disc rotor has a hat portion to be fixed to an axle hub of a vehicle. A sliding portion, which is pressed by a brake pad so as to generate a brake force, is connected to the hat portion via a connecting portion. A plurality of ribs are provided to increase a rigidity of the connecting portion. A low-rigidity portion having a rigidity less than the sliding portion and the connecting portion may be provided between the sliding portion and the connecting portion.

  • Patent number: 5970817
Abstract: In a brake operating device, a lever ratio changing apparatus interconnects a brake pedal assembly that has a brake pedal lever pivotally connected to a support structure at one end with a brake pedal member connected at an opposite end and a brake booster device. The lever ratio changing apparatus includes a connecting member, a guide member and a pivot pin element. The connecting member is movably connected at a first end to the brake pedal lever between the pivotal connection and the brake pedal member and an opposite second end movably connected to the brake booster device. The guide member is fixedly connected to the support structure. The pivot pin element is connected to the connecting member and is slidably movable within the guide member.

  • Patent number: 5467846
Abstract: In a disc brake assembly including a caliper member mounted on a vehicle body structure in such a manner as to straddle a portion of a rotary brake disc secured for a road wheel, a friction pad supported on the caliper member by means of a pair of hanger pins to be moved toward and away from one side surface of the brake disc for engagement therewith and disengagement therefrom, the friction pad having a backing plate secured thereto to be engaged at one side end face thereof with a torque receiving portion of the caliper member in braking operation and a fluid actuator mounted within the caliper member to press the friction pad against the one side surface of the brake disc, a side projection is provided on at least an upper or lower portion of the one side end face of the backing plate for engagement with the torque receiving portion of the caliper member or on at least an upper or lower portion of the torque receiving portion of the caliper member for engagement with the one side face of said backing plate

  • Patent number: 5099962
Abstract: A damping pad for preventing brake squeal includes: a first metal plate with a brake shoe fixed to one surface thereof; a second metal plate; a third metal plate; a first damping layer disposed between the other surface of the first metal plate and one surface of the second metal plate, and composed of viscoelastic material for high temperature use having a maximum loss factor at a temperature of 50.degree. C. to 100.degree. C.; and a second damping layer disposed between the other surface of the second metal plate and one surface of the third metal plate, and composed of viscoelastic material for low temperature use having a maximum loss factor at a temperature of 0.degree. C. to 30.degree. C.
