Abstract: A steering wheel comprising a steering wheel core metal including a boss joined to the end of a steering shaft, a ring core metal and a spoke core metal for joining both of them, a hard resin insert that covers at least a portion of the steering wheel core metal, a soft coating layer that substantially covers the hard resin insert and the steering wheel core metal and a plurality of engaging recesses each formed with a narrower width on the side of an opening thereof and disposed at a predetermined interval in the surface of the hard resin insert for joining the hard resin insert and the soft coating layer, in which the resin of the soft coating layer intrudes into the resin recesses to join both of them. Peeling of the coating material applied to the resin insert can surely be prevented by provision of the engaging grooves.
