  • Patent number: 5165006
Abstract: Thers is provided a vehicle motor switching apparatus having an armature coil, a series circuit including a series coil and connecting the armature coil and a battery and a shunt coil, comprising a switch for connecting the shunt coil to the series circuit in parallel to the armature coil to set up the motor as a compound-wound motor when the shunt coil is connected to the series circuit, while set up the motor as a series motor when disconnected therefrom. The apparatus further comprises a switch for disconnecting the series coil from the series circuit to set up the motor as a shunt motor when the shunt coil is connected to the series circuit and the series circuit is disconnected therefrom.

  • Patent number: 5150045
Abstract: An electric automobile having a battery as a driving power source is provided with a recharge identification section for producing the first signal when a terminal voltage of the battery reaches the lowest voltage where the automobile can travel, a traveling time judgment section for producing the second signal every time after the automobile has traveled for a predetermined time and a charger responsive to the first and the second signals for recharging the battery for a predetermined time.

  • Patent number: 5150034
Abstract: An automatically charging system for an electric automobile calculates a terminal voltage of a battery and an output signal from a lux sensor is compared with a preliminarily set reference illumination to discriminate whether the automobile is indoors or outdoors. The terminal voltage is compared with preliminarily set lower and upper limit voltage. When the terminal voltage is lower than the lower limit voltage and when it is discriminated that the automobile is outdoors, it is discriminated that the engine starting condition is established. On the other hand, when it is discriminated that the automobile is indoors or when the terminal voltage is higher than the upper limit voltage, it is discriminated that the engine stopping condition is established. When the engine is started, the generator is automatically started and when the engine is stopping, the generator is automatically stopped.

  • Patent number: 5115183
Abstract: A battery charging system for a motor-generator, having a generator for charging a battery, and an engine for driving the generator, comprises a generator speed sensor for detecting a generator speed of the generator; and an engine speed control circuit for controlling an engine speed of the engine in the manner that the generator speed is set to a predetermined speed. The system can improve a charged efficiency and a long-life battery by charging the battery to control a speed of the generator so as to perform a feedback control of the engine without keeping the engine speed at a constant speed, and by adaptively controlling the battery by detecting gases occurring in the battery, namely, a gassing.
