    Abstract: In performing friction element welding of a sheet set constituted by two or more metal sheets, an element is press penetrated into the sheet set. The element may include a round columnar mandrel; a disc-shaped collar provided at an upper end face of the mandrel; and a conical pin extending from a lower end face of the mandrel. The element has a plurality of fluidized-metal discharge grooves arranged spirally in a flat area of the lower end face of the mandrel, the flat area excluding the pin. Alternatively, the element may include a round columnar mandrel having a lower end face that forms a conical face with an apical angle ?m, the conical face having one or more pairs of chippings discharge grooves or having a plurality of cutting edges, the chippings discharge grooves each extending in a curved manner from an apex of the conical face.

The number of the groups is smaller than the number of the electric devices. A controller for the vehicle stores in advance different correction amounts respectively associated with the groups. The controller is configured to, when the number of operating ones of the electric devices belonging to the same group is equal to or greater than a predetermined specified number, perform an increase process of increasing an engine rotation speed of an internal combustion engine by the correction amount associated with the group in which the number of the operating ones of the electric devices is equal to or greater than the specified number.

    Abstract: A robot arm and an apparatus for transferring an article. The robot arm includes a movable hand for holding the article. A first arm has a proximal end that rotatably supports a drive pulley and a distal end that rotatably supports a driven pulley. The pulleys are connected to each other by a belt. A second arm and a third arm each have a proximal end and a distal end. The proximal ends of the second and third arms are pivotally supported by the driven pulley. The distal ends of the second and third arms are pivotally coupled to the hand. The driven pulley, the second arm, and the third arm cooperate with the hand to define a parallel linkage mechanism. A first motor pivots the first arm about its proximal end. A second motor rotates the drive pulley. A pivoting mechanism pivots the second arm about its proximal end relative to the first arm in correspondence with the pivoting of the first arm.
