  • Publication number: 20100094798
Abstract: Escalator operation sounds are collected by a remote sound-collecting device 15 or fixed sound-collecting devices 17 and 18, and stored in a data collecting device 21 of a diagnosis device 20. A processing device 22 extracts only abnormal sound components of the escalator operation sound by calculation of a difference between reference data and the sound data stored in the data collecting device 21. The processing device 22 determines an occurrence of an anomaly based on whether a maximum peak P of the abnormal sound components is higher than a predetermined threshold value Sh1. When determined that the anomaly has occurred, the processing device 22 investigates a correlation between a frequency analysis result on data around the maximum peak of the abnormal sound components and abnormal sound frequency patterns pre-stored by causes of anomalies, and estimates the cause of the anomaly based on the investigation.

  • Patent number: 6971482
Abstract: When there is a breakdown in either one of first and second power converters supplying electrical power to a multi-winding motor comprising a wind-up mechanism, a rescue operation can be safely and reliably carried out by using the remaining power converter. A wind-up mechanism comprises a two-winding motor having first and second windings, and, during normal operation, power is supplied to the first and second windings from first and second inverters respectively. When the first inverter has broken down due to excessive current, first and second contactors are switched off, and a third contactor comprising a short-circuiting unit is switched on. Consequently, both windings receive power from the second inverter, enabling the rescue operation to be carried out without causing vibrations.

  • Patent number: 5999157
Abstract: A liquid crystal apparatus comprises a liquid crystal device having a pair of substrates respectively having thereon scanning electrodes and data electrodes arranged in a matrix shape, and a liquid crystal disposed between the substrates and capable of a cumulative translational movement depending on a change in an external electric field applied to the liquid crystal; and a driver for controlling a first frequency f having a variable range and representing an effective frequency of a drive data signal pulse applied to the liquid crystal so that a second frequency f.sub.0 representing an inversion frequency at which a direction of the translational movement of the liquid crystal is turned in an opposite direction is in the variable range of the first frequency f. The above driver used in the liquid crystal apparatus is effective in suppressing a cumulative translational movement of liquid crystal molecules for a long period of time.

  • Patent number: 5956010
Abstract: A liquid crystal apparatus is constituted by a liquid crystal device including a pair of substrates and a liquid crystal disposed between the substrates, and means for applying an asymmetrical drive signal waveform to the liquid crystal. The liquid crystal is capable of having at least two stable states S1 and S2 and capable of causing a cumulative translational movement depending on a change in an external electric field applied to the liquid crystal. To the liquid crystal, an asymmetrical drive signal waveform having an effective frequency range is applied by the above application means so as to provide an absolute value of a difference between an inversion frequency f.sub.01 where a direction of the movement of said liquid crystal is turned in an opposite direction in the state S1 and an inversion frequency f.sub.
