  • Patent number: 4628754
Abstract: A hub of an output gear is connected detachably to a rear end of a main power train for an automatic transmission of a front engine rear wheel drive vehicle by means of splines, so that the main power train can be used as a power train of an automatic transmission for a front engine front wheel drive vehicle. The hub of the output gear has an annular groove for receiving a lubricating oil. The annular groove is enlarged in both width and depth so that most of the oil in the annular groove does not rotate together with the output gear and does not hamper the lubricating oil supply through the annular groove.

  • Patent number: 4598612
Abstract: In order to prevent excessive pump output drain off and ensure that the hydraulic pressure supplied to a control chamber of a variable capacity pump of a hydraulically controlled automatic automotive transmission control system, is maintained at an appropriate level with respect to the control pressure (line pressure) being utilized in the control system, a pressure limiting valve is disposed between a drain port of a pressure regulating valve and the torque converter which operatively interconnects the prime mover (engine) with transmission. This pressure limiting valve includes a spool which is biased in a direction to reduce the pressure passed therethrough to the torque converter by the pressure prevailing in a feedback chamber which communicates with the conduiting between the valve and the torque converter.

  • Patent number: 4531624
Abstract: A vacuum system used with an automotive vehicle such that an appropriate negative pressure is maintained within the vacuum system in order to assure the function of the vacuum brake booster even when the vacuum clutch booster is defective with respect to airtightness. A vacuum system according to the present invention comprises a novel second check valve having an orifice formed in the poppet valve or in the valve body, being connected between the intake manifold and the vacuum clutch booster. The second check valve operates as an ordinary check valve in a normal condition but as an orifice in an abnormal condition to prevent the vacuum pressure in the system from being decreased quickly, without use of any conventional vacuum tank.

  • Patent number: 4531898
Abstract: There is provided a control device for a vane type variable displacement pump. The control device eliminates the need of a hydraulic cylinder to control the eccentricity of a cam ring of the vane pump. A pressure difference between a second chamber and a high pressure side of the pump first chamber on a low-pressure side of the vane pump is utilized to determine the eccentricity of the cam ring. A regulator valve is connected to the first chamber and with the second chamber in order to allow or prevent communication between the two chambers. A spring is also provided to always force the cam ring in a direction so as to make the eccentricity of the cam ring larger.

  • Patent number: 4423598
Abstract: A working fluid supply system for a hydraulic power booster and a power steering system includes first and second fluid supply pumps, a hydraulic power boosting apparatus, a power steering unit, various fluid passages connecting thereto and a control apparatus. The first pump supplies pressurized working fluid to a first inlet port of the hydraulic power boosting apparatus. The second pump, controlled by the control apparatus, selectively supplies pressurized working fluid to a second inlet port of the power boosting apparatus to render the fluid supply flow rate applied to the power boosting apparatus substantially constant at a predetermined level when the fluid discharge rate of the first pump is less than the predetermined level. By this, a sufficient amount of pressurized working fluid is supplied to the hydraulic power boosting apparatus to fully operate it under all actual engine speeds.

  • Patent number: 4359869
Abstract: A hydraulic power boost apparatus for use with the braking system of an automotive vehicle includes a power piston cooperating with a slide valve to define a plurality of spool valves to regulate the flow of a pressurized fluid therethrough to selectively apply the fluid to boost the force applied to the power piston. A resilient member is positioned within the power piston blind bore to modulate the force transmitted from the slide valve to the power piston. The power piston also includes an annular ridge for engaging a mating annular ridge of the slide valve to limit the travel of the slide valve to prevent the resilient member from being deformed beyond its elastic limit.

  • Patent number: 4338855
Abstract: A relief valve mechanism for a hydraulic booster provides in an open position a by-pass passage leading to a power steering and relieves excess pressure on the upstream side of the hydraulic booster. The relief valve in the open position forms a second throttle besides a normal fixed orifice to decrease through flow rate to the drain to thereby supply sufficient quantity of oil to the power steering when steering is steeply operated.
