In the method a silver halide color photographic material having at least one of the layers of which comprises a silver halide emulsion of high chloride containing 80 mol % or over of silver chloride, and containing at least one coupler having relative coupling rate of 0.05 or over in each color-sensitive layer is processed, after exposure to light, with a color developer containing a specified amount of chloride ions and bromide ions.
