Further, the ratio of the ?-phase in the copper-zinc alloy is controlled to be higher than 10% and less than 40% and the crystal grains of the ?-phase and the ?-phase are crushed into a flat shape and arranged in a layer shape through cold working. According to the copper-zinc alloy product, it is possible to decrease the copper content and to appropriately secure the strength and cold workability by appropriately controlling the ratio of the ?-phase.

In order to make a whitish button which could be heretofore obtained only by plating, at least the button back mentioned above is made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy. Preferably, the button back mentioned above is made of an aluminum alloy containing 3-6% by weight of magnesium, and the cross-sectional thickness of the above-mentioned button back is in the range of 0.25-0.6 mm. Further, it is desirable that the above-mentioned cap and the insert should also be made of an aluminum alloy.

    Abstract: An Ni-free white copper alloy of formula CuaZnbTic or CuaZnbTicXd wherein X is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Al, Sn, Ag and Mn, b, c and d are, in mass %, 0.5≦b≦30, 1≦c≦7 and 0.1≦d≦4, and a is the balance, with unavoidable elements, and also a producing method therefor, comprising: preparing a material alloy for the above white copper alloy; heating the alloy to 700 to 885° C.; and cooling the alloy. The Ni-free white copper alloy has a strength and excellent hardness comparable to those of nickel silver, as well as excellent workability, corrosion resistance and whiteness in addition to ductility, and is free from an Ni allergy problem because of containing no nickel, and moreover tends not to cause needle detectors to malfunction.

The white copper alloy material has excellent strength and hardness equal to those nickel silver, as well as excellent workability, corrosion resistance and whiteness in addition to ductility, and has no fear of allergic reactions because of containing no Ni. In the white copper alloy material, fine adjustment of its white hue is possible according to the demand of customers, and satisfactory mechanical properties can be obtained with the desired hue.
