    Abstract: A system, method, computer program and apparatus for providing regulating signals for regulating the position of an objective lens relative to a track on a disk. The regulating signals are obtained in response to an access request specifying an access target region on the disk. The tracks of a disc are divided into a plurality of zones, each zone having associated signal regulation information. In response to an access request, the signal regulation information for the zone containing the access target region is used to regulate the position of the objective lens.

    Abstract: A tilt control method controls an inclination of an objective lens to an optical disk in which a track in the shape of a spiral or a concentric circle is formed. The tilt control method comprising steps of recording data to the optical disk, and acquiring, when recording the data to the optical disk, tilt control information for controlling the inclination of the objective lens based on both known compensation information that is defined with a plurality of kinds of signals acquired when reproducing data from a recorded region of the optical disk, and information that is related to an inclination of the objective lens when an amplitude of a tracking error signal is substantially a maximum in a recording region of the optical disk where the data are recorded.

    Abstract: An optical disc system with improved signal regulation capabilities and a method for implementing several improvements in the capabilities are disclosed, in that the signals containing information regarding the position of an objective lens in the tracking direction can be acquired accurately and the access to optical discs can be carried out. In the method for acquiring with high precision the signals containing information on the position of the objective lens in the tracking direction, these signals are regulated in response to an access request specifying an access target region on the optical recording disc provided thereon with tracks in the shape of spiral or concentric circle, corresponding to a zone to be regulated including the access target region to be regulated out of a plurality of regulating zones formed by dividing a plurality of the tracks utilizing regulation information acquired previously.
