Abstract: To detect deterioration of an SOA and perform feedback control to keep light intensity of output light constant in a configuration in which a DFB laser, an EA modulator, and the SOA are monolithically integrated. A semiconductor optical integrated element includes: a DFB laser that outputs continuous light; an EA modulator that modulates the continuous light; a first multimode interference coupler that inputs the modulated light from a first input port, divides the modulated light, and outputs the divided modulated light from two or more output ports; semiconductor optical amplifiers that are connected to respective output ports of the first multimode interference coupler and amplify each of the divided modulated light; a second multimode interference coupler that has input ports connected to respective outputs of the semiconductor optical amplifiers, multiplexes the amplified modulated light, and outputs the multiplexed modulated light from a first output port; and a monitoring waveguide.

Abstract: An information mediating apparatus has: a mediating condition file in which mediating condition list data describing specific mediating conditions has been stored; and a personal information file in which personal information peculiar to a person, a group, or the like has been stored. A mediation service processing unit reads out the mediating condition list data designated in response to a mediating request from the user from the mediating condition file, notifies a backend server in a service providing server group, collects and selects service information matched with the mediating condition list data, and displays it to the user. The mediating service processing unit is constructed by: a user interface processing unit having an HTML forming function; and a logic processing unit described as an information mediating program.

Abstract: An interserver data association apparatus capable of making data association with respect to a plurality of reception servers based on data transmitted from one transmission server. Transaction information about the manipulation of a database sent from a main center is received by an acquisition unit in the interserver data association apparatus. The data received by this acquisition unit is transferred to individual distribution buffers in a distribution unit. This distribution unit has information about the timings of data transmission requested by the individual reception servers. At the timing each reception server requests, therefore, the distribution unit transfers the transaction information stored in the distribution buffer associated with each reception server to that reception server.

Abstract: A communication control apparatus controls the transmission of data between client and server applications in a client/server system. The alteration to the system of a server machine does not affect the client application by temporarily storing the data in an internal database.The communication control apparatus contains a queue-structure entry table or response table as the database storing data notified of by the client application or the response data by the server application. It also stores the table defining information which defines the format of each table. The data transmitted between the client application and the server application is queued and retrieved on each of the tables.

Abstract: In a distributed transaction processing system, deadlocks generated between global transactions so as to stretch over a plurality of resource managers which access database can be detected, thus aiming at effective use of resources. For this reason, the system is configured in such a manner that a transaction manager for collectively managing global transactions is provided with global deadlock detector for detecting deadlocks generated so as to stretch over a plurality of resource managers between a plurality of global transactions which result from wait-for relation as to occupation of hardware resources.
