Abstract: An automatic floor washing apparatus that washes and polishes the floor at one time with the provision of through holes or apertures for the nonwoven disc pad fixed to a pad base, which is driven by means of a motor at high speeds. With the structure thus arranged, it is possible to reduce the working steps significantly unlike the conventional cleaning operation where the floor washing and polishing is carried out by separate machines, a floor washing apparatus and a high-speed polisher, individually.

Abstract: This invention provides an improved method and system for controlling a self-propelled floor cleaning vehicle characterized by the fact that the vehicle has excellent cleaning performance. This method is applied to a floor cleaning vehicle that follows a guidance line located on the floor. It detects the level of dirt or scratching present on the floor and it controls the running speed of the floor cleaning vehicle corresponding to the amount of the dirt or scratching detected. It is thus able to modify the cleaning and polishing/buffing operation in response to the amount of dirt or scratching on the floor.

Abstract: A guidance system for a self-advancing vehicle such as a floor washing machine is provided in an arrangement which does not spoil the beauty of, for example, a floor surface, which can be reused multiple times, which is low in cost and which more reliably follows a guidance line. A guidance line is drawn with a luminous material or with a coating material mainly consisting thereof along a predetermined traveling path on a floor surface. The guidance line is drawn on the floor surface with a mixture in which the luminous material is dissolved or dispersed in a solvent. Alternatively, a mixture in which the luminous material is mixed with a coating agent such as floor polish or wax is applied to the floor surface to draw the guidance line. The luminous material is, for example, an ultraviolet-absorbing material, an infrared-absorbing material or a visible light-absorbing material.
