    Abstract: A material having an internal cooling passage is provided which reduce a recirculation area to perform effective cooling. In a material having an internal cooling passage formed therein which has a wall surface 23 provided with cooling ribs 25a, 25b thereon to allow a cooling medium to flow along the wall surface 23, the cooling ribs 25a, 25b are arranged so that a portion of the cooling medium flowing in the vicinity of the center 51 of the wall surface 23 included in the cooling passage is allowed to flow toward both side edges 6b, 6c of the wall surface 23 and so that a portion 58 of the cooling medium flowing on a surface of the cooling ribs 25a, 25b moves to conform to the surface of the cooling ribs 25a, 25b and flows to the wall surface 23.

    Abstract: A gas turbine includes a nozzle vane and a sealing unit engaged with the nozzle vane inside a turbine supplied with combustion gases produced by mixing and burning air for combustion and fuel. The nozzle vane and the sealing unit are disposed in a channel of the downward flowing combustion gases on the outlet side of a gas path. A plurality of engagement portions between the sealing unit and the nozzle vane are provided successively from the upstream side toward the downstream side in a direction of flow of the combustion gases, and a downstream one of the plurality of engagement portions has a contact interface formed in a direction across a turbine rotary shaft. A reduction in the thermal efficiency of the gas turbine can be suppressed.

    Abstract: A fuel injection apparatus for an internal combustion engine is provided which is designed to control a fuel discharge from a fuel injection pump by regulating the quantity of fuel sucked into the fuel injection pump. The fuel injection pump is driven in synchronism with rotation of the engine to pressurize and supply the fuel to an accumulator chamber from which the fuel is injected into cylinders of the engine. The solenoid valve moves a valve member linearly to open and close a fluid path leading to the fuel injection pump. The controller actuates the solenoid valve in one of a first control mode when the engine speed is low and a second control mode when the engine speed is high. In the first control mode, a valve on-duration in which the solenoid valve is turned on to open the fluid path through the valve member and an area of the fluid path opened by the valve member are both controlled. In the second control mode, only the opened area of the fluid path is controlled.

    Abstract: A volumetric measurement apparatus is provided which measures the volume of a liquid material stored within a container. The volumetric measurement apparatus includes a reference enclosure having disposed therein a single pressure sensor. The pressure sensor has a pressure sensitive element exposed to both internal spaces of the reference enclosure and the container to detect a pressure difference between the container and the reference enclosure. A sensor shielding member is arranged in the reference enclosure to selectively shield the pressure sensitive element from the internal space of the reference enclosure to detect only a pressure within the container. The volumetric measurement is made based on the pressure difference between the container and the reference enclosure and the pressure in the container.

    Abstract: A fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine, wherein a spill valve device operated by a piezoelectric unit is provided for carrying out a pressure pump spill operation when a fuel injection stroke is completed. The spill valve device includes a operating chamber connected to a sealed chamber of the piezoelectric unit, the sealed chamber being connected to a fuel supplementing passageway which is connected to a fuel passageway connecting a fuel tank with a fuel intake port of the pressure pump. The pressure pump is further provided with a spill passageway for discharging pressurized fuel in the pressure chamber via the fuel passageway. A check valve is provided in the fuel passageway to prevent a flow of the spilled fuel to the sealed chamber of the piezoelectric unit.

    Abstract: The device of this invention has a variable capacity pump, a channel through which the discharged fluid from the pump passes toward an actuator, a variable choke located in the channel and pressure detecting means which detects the pressure difference on opposite sides of the variable choke. The pump varies its volume in relation with the pressure difference detected by the pressure detecting means. The opening area of the channel is varied by the variable choke in relation with the pressure of the fluid being supplied to the actuator, namely the pressure of the fluid flowing downstream of the variable choke. The device of this invention may also have an auxiliary variable choke located in the channel. The auxiliary variable choke can control the amount of fluid being supplied to the actuator in response to the operating condition of the actuator.

    Abstract: A motor-driven radial plunger pump has an outer housing enclosing a motor section and a pump section drivingly connected thereto. The fluid passage contains a filter element and has a recess disposed upstream thereof and adjacent to motor magnets so that magnetic particles contained in the fluid flow are magnetically adhered to and deposited on the bottom of the recess. The pump section has a rotor with radial plungers slidably disposed in cylinder bores in the rotor. The cylinder bores have radially inner end successively communicated with a suction passage communicated with the fluid passage between the outer and motor housings through feed holes formed in a coupling disc plate drivingly connecting the motor with the rotor.
