  • Patent number: 4970556
Abstract: An original scanning section has an illuminating source, and optically scans an original in the first direction to obtain a reflected light from the original. A designating section designates a desired range of the original as a designation area. Each of photosensors is arranged in the second direction perpendicular to the first direction so as to receive part of the reflected light and output a detection signal corresponding to a density of each portion of the original. A weighting operation section receives a designation output from the designating section, provides different weighting data for an inside area and an outside area of the designation area, receives each detection signal from the plurality of photosensors, operates each detection signal using the different weighting data, and outputs a density signal of the original.

  • Patent number: 4903072
Abstract: An image forming apparatus of the invention has a cooling fan which is used for forcibly decreasing a temperature raised by heat generated as a result a copying operation being performed, and which can be switched between high-speed/low-speed rotation modes. The image data on a document supported on an original table is exposed by an exposure lamp, regulated by a lamp regulator under the control of a main controller, and is optically scanned. The main controller forms an optical image corresponding to the image data on a photoconductive drum, develops it by means of a developing unit having a solenoid, and forms the developed image on a sheet. The image formed on the sheet is fixed by a fixing unit having a heater lamp under the control of a fixing unit controller. A cooling fan controller drives the cooling fan in a high-speed mode during the above copying operation and for a predetermined period of time after completion of the copying operation, thereby cooling the interior of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4662454
Abstract: A foam extinguishing system in which a foam generating net is provided at the front of a chamber, and foam nozzles and a gas discharge nozzle are provided at the rear of the chamber is disclosed wherein in order to lengthen the flying distance and suspension time of the non-combustible gas solution discharged from the gas discharge nozzle a deflector is provided in front of the nozzle to reflect and disperse a non-combustible gas solution discharged from the nozzle rearwards or sideways from the rear. The gas discharge nozzle provided with the deflector may be also located in such a position that the non-flammable gas solution reflected and dispersed by the deflector does not disturb the discharge pattern of a foam solution from the foam nozzles and that the non-combustible gas is pushed forward by an air flow generated in the air by a negative pressure.

  • Patent number: 4589768
Abstract: An original transfer apparatus used in an image-forming apparatus for forming an image in accordance with image information from an original set on an original table, whereby the original is transferred to the original table, is provided with a housing which is removably attached to the image-forming apparatus. The housing contains therein a transfer mechanism for swallowing and transferring the original to the original table. A drive source for driving the transfer mechanism is integrally provided in the housing. Since the drive source is contained in the housing, the original transfer apparatus can be mounted on the image-forming apparatus with ease.

  • Patent number: 4466729
Abstract: A corona discharger is swingably and elastically supported in the direction contacting with or separating from a photosensitive drum always in the state urged toward the photosensitive drum side, and a supporting arm provided integrally with the corona discharger is contacted with the photosensitive drum, a shaft or relatively fixedly disposed member relative to the photosensitive drum, thereby positioning it relative to the photosensitive drum of the corona discharger. Therefore, an interval between the photosensitive drum and the corona discharger can always be maintained constant with a relatively simple structure, and can also perform always stable corona discharging operation.

  • Patent number: 4432639
Abstract: This invention is directed to a clam shell type image forming device whereby the upper unit is pivotally mounted with respect to the lower unit. Conversely, the upper unit is latched into a lower portion with the lower unit. If desired, however, the upper unit can be rotated to an upper position at a fixed angle. This is desirable, for example, if the operator must remove jammed paper from the device as to, otherwise, repair any defects. The invention utilizes a latching handle which permits the operator to unlatch the upper unit from the lower unit. The handle is not permitted to operate unless the carrier is moved to its predetermined position.
