Patent number: 6837217Abstract: A method is provided for easily avoiding undesirable effects on various physical values due to the change in temperature of a motor for driving a throttle valve without causing secondary problems. A technique is also provided for measuring the temperature of the motor electrically. The method uses a compensation device for correcting the power supply to the motor by detecting the impedance of the motor windings and/or the change in the motor temperature. The temperature of the motor is estimated from the current and voltage to the motor.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 1999Date of Patent: January 4, 2005Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Masatoshi Hoshino, Katsuji Marumoto, Minoru Oosuga, Yasuhiro Kamimura, Yasushi Sasaki

Publication number: 20040060541Abstract: The invention is intended to simplify a default mechanism of a throttle valve opening and closing device for the purpose of improving mountability of the device to a vehicle. When a motor generate no driving forces, a throttle valve is held in a position (1) by a return spring. In this position, gaps are formed between the throttle valve and a wall surface of an intake passage. Spherical recesses are formed in parts of the wall surface of the intake passage. In a position (2) where the throttle valve is opposed to the spherical recesses, the gaps are minimized in an operating range of the throttle valve.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 26, 2003Publication date: April 1, 2004Applicant: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Masahiko Soshino, Takehiko Kowatari, Yuzo Kadomukai, Yuki Ejiri, Kenji Ono, Yasuhiro Kamimura, Norihiro Isozaki, Eisuke Wayama, Hitoshi Andoh, Yutaka Takeuchi

Patent number: 6474301Abstract: An electronic control throttle body has a default mechanism for securing the self-propelling of a vehicle at the time of faulty. A throttle control unit controls the position of a throttle valve by using a motor on the basis of a target throttle valve opening degree obtained by an engine control unit. In this respect, when the target throttle valve opening degree inputted from the engine control unit crosses over a default opening degree f0 of a default mechanism, an integration value having been added is set to 0, and an integration value having been calculated hereinafter is added to the set value to thereby perform a feedback control.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2000Date of Patent: November 5, 2002Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Yasuhiro Kamimura, Yasushi Sasaki, Norio Tomita, Tsugio Tomita, Syuuichi Nakano

Patent number: 6302084Abstract: A throttle valve control apparatus of an engine is constructed so that the poorer the response of the throttle valve, the larger the value of a control signal given as a control signal for opening of the throttle valve, whereby the speediness of control and response of the throttle valve are improved. The engine throttle valve control apparatus has means for comparing a target opening which is a control target of the throttle valve and a real opening which obtained by a sensor or the like, and obtaining a corrected target opening of the throttle valve by a map or computing, corresponding to a difference obtained as the result of the comparison.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 1999Date of Patent: October 16, 2001Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Yasuhiro Kamimura, Yasushi Sasaki, Norio Tomita

Patent number: 6267099Abstract: A control device for an internal combustion engine is configured to switch over at least one of fuel injection amount and ignition timing to an emergency traveling mode in the event that an electric actuator for driving a throttle valve malfunctions, at which time the throttle valve is set at a default position. At the time of the emergency traveling mode, throttle valve opening degree is set at a value larger than the opening degree when an accelerator pedal is not depressed during normal operation. Fuel amount is set to obtain necessary engine rpm for the emergency traveling mode and when the acceleration pedal is not depressed or the vehicle speed is zero, ignition timing is retarded with respect to ignition timing during normal idling operation.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 2000Date of Patent: July 31, 2001Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Hiroyuki Yamada, Yasuhiro Kamimura, Kenji Ono, Norihiro Isozaki

Patent number: 5975051Abstract: A motor-driven throttle valve control device has a throttle shaft and a coupling lever rotatably provided on the shaft, both being coupled by a spring. A default spring energizes the coupling lever toward a position of the default opening of the throttle valve. The throttle shaft rotates separately from the coupling lever in the direction of the full open throttle valve from a point at which the coupling lever comes into contact with a stopper defining the default position and, together with the coupling lever, in the full close direction of the throttle valve from the point. Thereby, the throttle valve can be kept at the default position by the default spring through the coupling lever when a motor driving the throttle valve is not powered.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 1997Date of Patent: November 2, 1999Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Hiroyuki Yamada, Yasuhiro Kamimura, Kenji Ono, Norihiro Isozaki

Patent number: 5868114Abstract: A throttle control apparatus for an engine on a vehicle is provided, in which the number of component parts in the position detection means and the driven means is reduced to improve the accuracy in its position control and at the same time an integrated wiring is achieved and connectors are aggregated. The position detection means for detecting the position of a control valve, the driven means for controlling the position of the control valve, the means for processing control signals, an output from the position control means for controlling the position of the control valve are disposed within a sealed space defined by a body supporting a control valve shaft, and a cover. Based on the fact that the number of component parts of the position detection means may be reduced, the mechanical hysteresis and electrical hysteresis may also be reduced to improve the accuracy in controlling the control valve position, and it is possible to aggregate the connectors.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 1997Date of Patent: February 9, 1999Assignees: Hitachi, Ltd., Hitachi Car Engineering Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yasuhiro Kamimura, Yasushi Sasaki, Sadayuki Aoki, Kazuo Nagayama

Patent number: 5297521Abstract: A throttle valve controller for use with an internal combustion engine has construction advantageous in terms of cost and enables, by a fail-safe function, "abnormal-state auxiliary driving" by the operation of an accelerator pedal in a case where an abnormality such as a failure has occurred in the actuator driving system. The risk of occurrence of a serious accident such as self-speeding of the vehicle is thereby eliminated substantially completely. A flexing driving force transmission mechanism or a fluid driving force transmission mechanism is provided at a driving force connection between a member displaced with the accelerator pedal operation and an opening/closing drive member of a throttle valve. The flexing driving force transmission mechanism absorbs the difference between the opening of the throttle valve controlled with the actuator and the opening to which the throttle valve is to be set by the accelerator pedal operation.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 1992Date of Patent: March 29, 1994Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Yasushi Sasaki, Yasuhiro Kamimura
