  • Patent number: 7428187
Abstract: A structure is used to prevent an ultrasonic sensor from being damaged by a spring member provided for a bezel. A metal spring is fixed in a groove in a bezel. By setting depth of the groove to be larger than thickness of the metal spring, the metal spring is positioned on the inside further than an open end of the bezel. With the configuration, the metal spring is prevented from coming into direct contact with an ultrasonic transducer. Thus, a vibration face of the ultrasonic transducer is prevented from being damaged.

  • Patent number: 7398687
Abstract: A cover member of an ultrasonic sensor has a first engagement portion and a second engagement portion, which are respectively engaged with a third engagement portion and a fourth engagement portion of a sensor body. The engagement portions are arranged in such a manner that a force applied to the cover member due to an engagement between the first engagement portion and the third engagement portion and a force applied to the cover member due to an engagement between the second engagement portion and the fourth engagement portion respectively have opposite directions to be substantially countervailed when the sensor body is attached to the cover member. Thus, the cover member can be restricted from slanting when the sensor body is fixed to the cover member.

  • Patent number: 7357431
Abstract: An ultrasonic sensor for emitting ultrasonic waves and for receiving the waves reflected from objects is mounted on a mounting member such as a bumper of an automotive vehicle. A through-hole for inserting a front portion of the ultrasonic sensor is formed in the bumper. The ultrasonic sensor is connected to an inner surface of the bumper using a fixing member so that a vibrating front surface of the ultrasonic sensor is exposed to the front side of the bumper. A front periphery of the through-hole which is rough due to machining burrs or the like is covered with a masking member formed separately from the mounting member. Thus, the ultrasonic sensor is easily mounted on a bumper without damaging its ornamental design.

  • Patent number: 7317663
Abstract: An ultrasonic sensor has an intermediate connection member for having electrical connection between an ultrasonic transducer and a circuit board. A connection pin of the transducer supported by the intermediate connection member is prevented from being damaged when an excessive pressing force on the transducer pushes the transducer into a case, because a deformation of the connection member releases the force without damaging the connection between the transducer and the circuit board.

  • Publication number: 20070230274
Abstract: An ultrasonic sensor has a sensor body and a bezel having a metal spring attached on a side wall thereof for installation on a vehicle component. A free end of the metal spring is positioned to protrude from a through hole of the side wall, is pressed by a portion of the sensor body that is inserted in a hollow space of the bezel, and is pushed back by an opening face of the sensor body. In this manner, the bezel is firmly attached on the component and the sensor body is firmly attached on the bezel.

  • Patent number: 7240555
Abstract: Engaging portions of an ultrasonic sensor apparatus are engaged with engaging portions of a holding member at a first angular position of the ultrasonic sensor apparatus when the ultrasonic sensor apparatus is axially installed to the holding member, which is in turn installed to a bumper. At the time of uninstalling the sensor apparatus from the holding member, one of the engaging portions is radially outwardly disengaged from a corresponding one of the engaging portions of the holding member, and then the sensor apparatus is rotated to a second angular position to release engagement between the rest of the engaging portions of the sensor apparatus and the rest of the engaging portions of the holding member. Thereafter, the sensor apparatus is axially pulled away from the holding member to uninstall the sensor apparatus from the holding member.
