    Abstract: The present invention provides a standardized interface between an conversion program and an applications program where the conversion program processes input data for the applications program. The interface advantageously provides in place conversion of the input data when the applications program operates in a multi-window environment. By using a standardized interface, applications programs may be simplified, while any conversion program may be reused in conjunction with any applications program.
