Abstract: There is provided a device that receives a broadcast providing a data distribution service from a broadcast station, registers data related to facilities acquired through the data distribution service in a primary database, extracts from the primary database data related to facilities near the position of the host vehicle every time a host vehicle has run a predetermined distance, registers the extracted data in a secondary database, and presents data for presentation extracted from the secondary database to a user.

Abstract: A navigation system includes: an angular velocity sensor 1 for detecting a change in an advancement direction of a vehicle; a vehicle azimuth calculation unit 13 for calculating a vehicle azimuth on the basis of angular velocity sensor information obtained from the angular velocity sensor; an on-board camera 2 for shooting a periphery of the vehicle; an image recognition unit 19 for recognizing an image obtained from the on-board camera; and an offset voltage correction unit 21 for performing a drift correction on the angular velocity sensor in accordance with an angle error between the vehicle azimuth calculated by the vehicle azimuth calculation unit and a vehicle azimuth determined from a white line on a road recognized by the image recognition unit.

Abstract: A destination navigation method is disclosed, which includes locating present position and destination, searching route to the destination. The method includes giving driving guidance along a route set on basis of a predetermined evaluation index or selection of driver and further determining whether searched route contains a short distance lane change section, where a road having many lanes and distance between an entryway to the road having many lanes and a junction (exit way) is short in order to give notice that it is coming and for driver to avoid it if necessary because the short distance lane change section may cause stress and fatigue especially for an unskilled driver.

Abstract: When it is decided that the current vehicle position is outside an area described by map data stored on a CD-ROM 21-i loaded in a disk storage drive 1, a disk-switching message is produced for switching the CD-ROM 21-i to a CD-ROM 21-j having stored thereon map data describing the area covering the current vehicle position. This makes the user aware of the necessity for switching to the CD-ROM 21-j having the map data describing the area toward which the vehicle is traveling; hence, reliable navigation information is provided continuously over an extended route to the user's destination.

Abstract: A destination navigation method including the steps of: locating a present position and a destination; searching routes for connecting the present position to the destination; and giving a driving guidance to the destination along a routing line to destination set on the basis of a predetermined evaluation index or the selection of a driver, is characterized by a step of judging whether or not one searched route or a plurality of searched routes include a short-distance lane change section.
