  • Publication number: 20100297157
Abstract: The present inventors administered a peptide derived from VEGFR-2, which is known as one of the proteins involved in neovascularization, to model mice (A2/Kb transgenic mice) expressing human HLA-A*0201, and tested whether or not the peptide has vaccine effect. As a result, the present inventors successfully discovered that vaccination using this peptide as an antigen is effective for inhibition of choroid neovascularization, and thereby completed the present invention. More specifically, the present invention provides vaccines for treatment and/or prevention of diseases caused by choroid neovascularization (neovascular maculopathy), which contain a VEGFR-2-derived peptide as an active ingredient.

  • Patent number: 7352921
Abstract: In order to avoid a frequent multiple crossing in an optical fiber in a sheet and attach the optical connector near a marginal end of the sheet while maintaining a sufficient extra length and more extra length for attaching the optical fibers, in the optical fiber sheet 6, an optical fiber 5 as an extra length section in the optical fiber path is disposed on three-layer wiring planes which are formed by attaching four sheets 1, 2, 3, and 4. Notched sections 2a and 3a are formed in the intermediate layers 2 and 3. The optical fiber 5 communicates from a first wiring layer to a second wiring layer via the notched section 2a so as to communicate from the second wiring layer to a third wiring layer via the notched section 3a.

  • Patent number: 7232261
Abstract: An optical ferrule is disclosed in which a concave portion 17c having a gate G in resin molding disposed therein is formed in a ferrule body 11. According to this constitution, it is possible to easily cut a flash 10 left after a gate of the concave portion 17c of the ferrule body 11 is cut after molding with a gate cutter, so that, when the ferrule body 11 is fitted in a housing of an MPO connector and the like, the problem that the flash 10 protrudes from the concave portion 17c and the flash 10 hitching to an inner wall of the housing dose not occur. Accordingly, the labor required for removing the flash 10 by polishing can be eliminated, and hence productivity of the ferrule body 11 can be improved. Thus, a large number of ferrule bodies 11 can be automatically manufactured without requiring much manpower.

  • Patent number: 7195400
Abstract: An optical connector ferrule has an optical fiber containing hole reaching from the rear end surface near the end surface and a fine pore extending from the optical fiber accommodating hole to the end surface to be connected. A bare fiber of a polarization-maintaining optical fiber is inserted into the fine pore. Since the length of the fine pore is short, the influence of the uniformness of the adhesive in the fine pore is smaller, and therefore the stress distribution is maintained, resulting in stabilizing the polarization characteristics. A flange unit is attached to the ferrule after an optical fiber is inserted to the ferrule and fixed. Therefore the optical fiber is easily adjusted with respect to the housing in the circumferential direction around the axis, and optical fibers are connected by but joining with high accuracy.

  • Publication number: 20060127481
Abstract: The current situation is such that it is difficult for drugs to reach posterior tissues of eyeball, such as choroid and retina, with the result that treating diseases in such regions is difficult. Thus, how to attain effective delivery of drugs is of importance. It has been found that effective delivery of drugs to positerior tissues of eyeball, such as choroid and retina, especially those wherein vascularization has occurred can be accomplished by systemic administration, especially intravenous administration of polymer micells having a drug incorporated therein. Further, it has been found that when a photosensitive substance is used as a drug and PDT is carried out, choroidal neo-vessels can be effectively choked so as to be useful for the treatment of age-related macular degeneration.

  • Publication number: 20060010409
Abstract: In a semiconductor integrated circuit design method for simulating a delay of a logic circuit based on delay values which are calculated for each kind of a plurality of cells composing the logic circuit or for each signal path of the logic circuit and which are stored in a delay library, the simulation is performed to a block including at least one cell, and a delay value varying dependent on a layout direction of the cell included in the block is used as the delay value in the delay library. By this method, timing verification can be performed according to the layout direction of each cell layouted on a wafer, attaining precise margin of the design and improving yield of the semiconductor integrated circuit.
