  • Publication number: 20100246379
Abstract: A storage unit stores a preamble signal defined in a legacy system and a preamble signal defined in a MIMO system. A monitoring unit in a transmitting apparatus monitors the existence of any communication apparatus which is not compatible with the MIMO system but accepts the legacy system. A channel characteristics acquiring unit derives the characteristics of a radio channel between the transmitting apparatus and a receiving apparatus. A selector selects a packet format based on a monitoring result obtained by the monitoring unit. The selector also selects where to place LTS, based on the characteristics of wireless channel derived by the channel characteristics acquiring unit.

  • Publication number: 20100172027
Abstract: The present invention relates to an optical element and, more particularly relates to an optical element having at least one surface in which an antireflection concave-convex structure is formed. The present invention provides an optical member in which the generation of diffraction light and reflection is sufficiently suppressed and which has a structure that can be formed in a simple manner. On a first lens surface (10) of a lens 1, an antireflection concave-convex structure (11) including a plurality of cone convex portions (12) regularly arranged is formed. The antireflection concave-convex structure (11) is for suppressing reflection of light having a wavelength equal to or larger than a cycle of the cone convex portions (12). The antireflection concave-convex structure (11) is formed so that the cycle and/or a height of the structure units differ among regions of the first surface (10).

  • Patent number: 7643587
Abstract: A frequency offset correcting unit estimates frequency offsets in a preamble period, corrects digital received signals by the estimated initial frequency and further corrects them by residual frequency signals. A receiving weight vector computing unit computes receiving weight vector signals by using LMS algorithm. Based on the error vectors or receiving weight vector signals derived by LMS algorithm, the frequency offsets contained in corrected received signals are also estimated and are outputted as the residual frequency signals. A multiplier weights the corrected received signals with the receiving weight vector signals. An adder sums up outputs of the multiplier so as to output a synthesized signal.

  • Publication number: 20090324610
Abstract: Two genes implicated in arteriosclerotic diseases such as cerebral infarction were successfully identified by performing genome-wide correlation studies using SNPs by targeting the entire genome. Polymorphic mutations that can be used to examine the presence or absence of risk factors for arteriosclerotic diseases were successfully found on the genes. Subjects can be efficiently examined for the presence or absence of risk factors for arteriosclerotic diseases using the presence or absence of the polymorphic mutations as indicators. Furthermore, methods of screening for therapeutic agents for arteriosclerotic diseases are enabled by using expression or function of the genes as index.

  • Patent number: 7634026
Abstract: Burst signals are received. An AGC unit determines gain for the received burst signal. A VGA unit amplifies the received burst signal by the determined gain. In the burst signal, Legacy STS is assigned in a header portion and MIMO-STS is assigned posterior to the Legacy STS. The AGC unit determines a tentative gain in Legacy STS. The tentative gain is then reduced. With the reduced tentative gain as an initial value, the gain is determined in MIMO-STS.

  • Patent number: RE40954
Abstract: An objective lens (1) for an optical disk, which focuses a light beam from a light source, is designed so that a third-order coma aberration generated when the objective lens is inclined at a unit angle is larger than a third-order coma aberration generated when the optical disk (2) is inclined at the unit angle, mounted on an actuator for inclining the objective lens according to an inclination amount of the optical disk, and used. With this structure, it is possible to obtain an objective lens for an optical disk that has a large numerical aperture and is easy to manufacture and assemble, and in which the third-order coma aberration generated when the optical disk surface is inclined owing to a warp or the like can be corrected by small inclination of the objective lens, so as to reduce a residual astigmatism, which is generated according to the inclination amount, after the correction.
