  • Patent number: 5250996
Abstract: A method for fixing a full color toner image by inserting a transfer medium to which a toner image is transferred, between a pair of rolls of a fixing apparatus, and pressing the medium therebetween, wherein the toner image is formed of a full color toner prepared by dispersing a colorant into a polyester resin containing a diol component represented by the following general formula (I) as a constituent and having a softening point of 100.degree. to 120.degree. C., as measured by a ring and ball method, a glass transition temperature of 55.degree. C. or more, a Gardner color scale of 2 or less and a haze value of 15 or less, and the fixing operation is conducted while supplying a functional group-containing organopolysiloxane having a viscosity of 10 to 100,000 cs at 25.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 5177550
Abstract: A heated roller type of fixing device to prevent offsetting of toner onto a fixing or pressure roller and an imaging system including such a fixing device wherein a sheet with toner deposits thereon is passed between a fixing roller and a pressure roller to fix the toner in place, a releasant applicator applies a releasant on the surface of at least one of said fixing or pressure rollers, and a releasant remover removes from the sheet the releasant deposited thereon by the fixing or pressure roller, thereby the releasant remaining on the toner image is removed by the releasant remover. Thus, it is possible to eliminate image density variations which may otherwise be caused by an uneven distribution of the releasant, as is the case with the prior art, and to obtain an image density which does not change with time and so is stable.

  • Patent number: 5157445
Abstract: Disclosed is a fixing device where a copying medium carrying a non-fixed toner image thereon is passed between a pair of fixing rolls as being kept in direct contact with each other under pressure so as to fix the non-fixed toner image on the copying medium, the device being characterized in that a toner release at least containing, as an active ingredient, a functional group-containing organopolysiloxane of a general formula (I): ##STR1## the organopolysiloxane having a viscosity of from 10 to 100,000 cs at 25.degree. C., is supplied to at least the fixing roll of being brought into contact with the non-fixed toner image of the said pair of fixing rolls. Using the toner release, the copying medium releasability from the fixing roll to which the toner release is applied is good and the heat-resistance of the fixing roll is also good.

  • Patent number: 5123151
Abstract: An elastic roll of the first embodiment comprises an elastic body layer formed in a thickness not less than 200 .mu.m on a metal core bar; and a covering layer with a release property formed in a thickness ranging from 3 .mu.m to 200 .mu.m on the surface of the elastic body, the covering layer being formed of a composite material composed of fibrillated polytetrafluoroethylene and elastomer having releasing properties. An elastic fixing roll of second embodiment comprises a heat-conductive elastic body layer formed of heat-resistant elastomer in a thickness not less than 200 .mu.m on a metal core bar; an oil-resistant layer formed of oil-resistant elastomer in a layer thickness ranging from 3 .mu.m to 200 .mu.m on the elastic body layer; and a covering layer having a release property and formed of a composite material composed of fibrillated polytetrafluoroethylene and elastomer with a release property in a thickness ranging from 3 .mu.m to 200 .mu.m on the oil-resistant layer.

  • Patent number: 4794364
Abstract: A thermostat comprises a generally circular supporting frame; a disk mounted on the frame movable between two stable positions in response to changes in the temperature of the disk, a pin slidable mounted in the frame for movement in response to movement of the disk between the two stable positions; an electrical contact switch including at least one movable contact responsive to slidable movement of the pin for opening and closing the contact switch; and spacers between the frame and the disk for reducing transfer of heat by conduction from the disk to the frame for increasing the thermal response of the thermostat.

  • Patent number: 4320714
Abstract: A heat fixing device for use in an electrophotographic copying machine in which an electroconductive layer is provided in the surface of one of the fixing and pressure rolls for preventing charge built up upon the surface of the roll. The layer is preferably provided as an aluminum plated layer covered by a non-adhesive releasing layer made of a material such as tetrafluoroethylene or HTV or RTV silicone rubber. Provision of the electroconductive layer prevents an electric field from forming extending through a sheet carrying an image to be fixed thereby substantially entirely, eliminating any offset produced on the roll.
