  • Patent number: 6954068
Abstract: The gantry of a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus includes a static magnetic field magnet, a gradient coil, a high-frequency coil, and a sealed vessel housing the gradient coil. The sealed vessel is made of a nonconductive material. Even if a gradient magnetic field is switched at high speed, no eddy current flows in the sealed vessel. Therefore, the sealed vessel does not vibrate.

  • Patent number: 6311389
Abstract: A curved metal plate is adhered to an outer surface of a cylindrical jig of the same shape, the metal plate is cut along the spiral coil winding pattern, the unnecessary metal portion other than the coil winding is peeled off from the jig to leave only the coil winding on the jig, an adhesive is applied on the coil winding, and an insulating sheet is covered over the jig (the coil winding thereon). After the coil winding is adhered to the insulating sheet, the insulating sheet (together with the coil winding) is peeled off from the jig. As a result, a saddle coil adhering the spiral coil winding to the inner side of the curved cylindrical insulating sheet is manufactured. According to such manufacturing method, without requiring huge equipment such as drying furnace, the saddle coil having a desired winding pattern with high precision can be manufactured in a short time and at low cost.

  • Patent number: 6043653
Abstract: Solid-borne vibrations and airborne vibrations from a gradient coil unit in an MRI gantry environment are markedly reduced thereby reducing ambient noise occurring due to the vibrations. Support assemblies retain the gradient coil unit in a mechanically-uncoupled or substantially-uncoupled state relative to the magnet by supporting the coil unit at separate positions on the floor (e.g., with anchor bolts rigidly coupling coil support assemblies to the floor). Moreover, the gradient coil unit and at least parts of the support assemblies may be retained in a vacuum space.

  • Patent number: 5210893
Abstract: A couch apparatus for medical use, comprising a lower base fixed on the floor, an elevating mechanism mounted on the lower base, an upper base fixed on the elevating mechanism, a tabletop mounted slidably on the upper base, and a tabletop slide mechanism. The tabletop is provided with a belt having end portions fixed to end portions of the tabletop along the longitudinal axis of the tabletop. The belt has a slack intermediate portion. The upper base is provided with a drive pulley which engages the intermediate portion of the belt. The upper base is also provided with driving means for rotating the drive pulley and with belt guide rollers for restricting lateral motion of the belt as the drive pulley moves the belt and tabletop longitudinally.
