  • Patent number: 9020372
Abstract: An image forming apparatus capable of properly reducing recovery printing time, while reducing abrasion and deterioration of image bearing members. As an image formation mode determining method, a first method is selected before a print job is interrupted e.g. a jam, whereas for recovery printing, one of the first method and a second method is selected. In the first method, if an image to be formed is a color image, an image formation mode is set to an all-contact mode having an intermediate transfer belt brought into contact with all of photosensitive members, and if the image is a monochrome image, the mode is set to a partial-contact mode having the belt brought into contact only with a photosensitive member for black toner. In the second method, the mode is set to the all-contact mode for all pages on which image formation is to be performed.

  • Patent number: 7938393
Abstract: A recording apparatus includes a facsimile receiving function and one of a copy function and a printer function. On a shared sheet conveying path, sheets fed from a manual feed port and a cassette feed port are conveyed, and conveying rollers hold the sheet from the manual feed port in a removable state and is capable of conveying the sheet from the cassette feed port when no sheet from the manual feed port is being held. A memory is operable when image formation is not possible for an image received by the facsimile receiving function, to store the received image. It is detected that a sheet from the manual feed port is being held on the sheet conveying path when image formation for the received image is to be carried out on a sheet in the cassette feed port, a warning is given to have the held sheet removed.

  • Patent number: 7606509
Abstract: An image forming apparatus which can prevent a temperature increase at predetermined locations of a fixing unit and also realize the fastest printing with respect to each continuous printing number. The image forming apparatus includes a fixing unit that fixes an image supported on a recording material passing through the nip section, and a conveying unit that conveys the recording material to the fixing unit at a throughput representing the number of recording materials conveyed to the fixing unit per unit time. The printing number is set in continuous printing on the recording materials, and the size of the recording material is acquired. Nearly the highest throughput is set as the predetermined throughput based on the set printing numbers and the acquired size of the recording material so that the continuous printing is completed before a temperature at predetermined locations in the fixing unit reaches an upper limit.

  • Publication number: 20080063414
Abstract: An image forming apparatus which is capable of judging whether or not a sheet handling apparatus is connected or faulty without provision of a sheet handling apparatus mechanical connection-detecting section, and reducing the size and manufacturing costs of the apparatus. To an image forming apparatus, a sheet handling apparatus is disconnectably connected. A communicating portion communicates with the sheet handling apparatus. A control sections judges whether or not the image forming apparatus or the sheet handling apparatus is abnormal. The control section provides a display for confirming disconnection of the sheet handling apparatus, if it is judged that the image forming apparatus or the sheet handling apparatus is not abnormal, when the communication with the sheet handling apparatus by the communicating portion is impossible.
