  • Publication number: 20170151840
Abstract: A tire condition detecting apparatus includes a condition detecting section, a transmission section, and a transmission-side control section. The transmission section is configured to transmit a signal that contains information related to the condition of the tire to a receiver, which includes a reception-side control section. The reception-side control section identifies the position of the wheel assembly in which the tire condition detecting apparatus is provided based on the received signal strength indication (RSSI) of the signal. The transmission-side control section is configured to cause a position detecting signal and an instruction signal to be transmitted from the transmission section to the receiver. The position detecting signal is configured to cause the reception-side control section to identify the position of the tire condition detecting apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6967571
Abstract: A tire condition monitoring apparatus that improves data communication accuracy. Permanent magnets are fixed to the wheel well. A transmitter fixed to a tire includes a pressure sensor for detecting the air pressure of the tire and an MI sensor for detecting magnetic fields generated by the permanent magnets. As the tire rotates, the positions of the permanent magnets relative to the MI sensor change. Thus, the intensity of the magnetic field acting on the MI sensor changes. The transmitter determines the rotation angle of the tire based on the detection of the MI sensor. When the rotation angle of the tire is in a range optimal for wireless communication, the transmitter transmits the air pressure data generated by the pressure sensor.

  • Patent number: 6965306
Abstract: A transmitter, which is operated by a battery, wirelessly transmits data including data that represents the temperature T in a tire and data that represents the voltage V of the battery. A receiver judges whether or not the life of the battery is ending depending on the battery voltage V read from the received data. More specifically, the receiver performs the judgment regarding the life of the battery based on a comparison between the battery voltage V and a variable voltage reference value V0, which is selected in accordance with the temperature T in the tire. The judgment regarding the life of the battery is thus accurately performed.

  • Patent number: 6938467
Abstract: A transmitter for a tire condition monitoring apparatus, which is powered by a battery. The transmitter includes a sensor for periodically detecting the condition of the tire, a transmission circuit for wirelessly transmitting data representing the detected tire condition, and a controller for controlling the sensor and the transmission circuit. When the detected tire condition is abnormal, the controller shortens the detection interval of the sensor. As a result, the transmitter immediately informs a driver of abnormality in the condition of the tire.

  • Publication number: 20040257213
Abstract: A transmitter of a tire condition monitoring apparatus wirelessly transmits transmission data containing air pressure data of a tire. The wireless transmission of the transmission data is performed when a reception antennal in the transmitter receives a trigger signal transmitted by an initiator. The reception antenna is arranged relative to the tire such that the orientation of the directivity of the reception antenna is constant irrespective of a rotation angle of the tire. Therefore, the transmitter operates reliably irrespective of the rotation angle of the tire.
