  • Patent number: 11831741
Abstract: A communication apparatus determines whether a file selected by a file selection unit is of a format analyzable by the communication apparatus. If it is determined that the file selected by the file selection unit is not of the format analyzable by the communication apparatus, the communication apparatus restricts selection of a predetermined protocol included in a plurality of protocols. The communication apparatus further determines whether the protocol selected by a protocol selection unit is a predetermined protocol. If it is determined that the protocol selected by the protocol selection unit is the predetermined protocol, the communication apparatus restricts selection of a file of a format not analyzable by the communication apparatus.

  • Patent number: 8482754
Abstract: An image processing apparatus has a large number of image processing functions, in which resources necessary for code processing units can be suppressed while a large-scale decline in performance is prevented. The apparatus includes code processing units for executing coding and decoding of image data, and request-source task units (print function, scanner function and FAX transceive function), which request any one of the code converters to perform code conversion of image data. The number of request-source task units is greater than the number of code converters and a degree of priority has been set for each one. A determination unit always assigns the code converting units to processing requests from request-source task units having a high priority and, if there is an idle code converting unit, assigns the code converting unit to a processing request from a request-source task unit having a low priority.

  • Patent number: 7849231
Abstract: A local interface driver generates a network communication channel through which resources of a peripheral device connected via a local interface can be seen, from application software for accessing resources of a peripheral device connected via a network interface by use of a predetermined network communication system, as network resources accessible using the same predetermined network communication system. Depending on which of the peripheral devices connected to the individual interfaces is used to communicate, either the local interface driver or a network interface driver is selected. A unified user interface can be used for making user's operations or setup operations to peripheral devices without being limited to interfaces via which a host device user gains access to the peripheral devices.
