    Abstract: PROBLEMS The present invention relates to a process for producing a polybenzoxazole polymer and provides a process for producing the polybenzoxazole polymer within a short reaction time. MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS A process for producing a polybenzazole polymer comprises producing the polybenzazole polymer in a non-oxidizing dehydrating solvent while employing a compound represented by the following general formula (1) as a raw material including a first polymerization step in which polymerization is performed at a temperature of 150° C. or less and a latter polymerization step in which polymerization is performed at a temperature of 200° C.
