  • Patent number: 6372995
Abstract: In order to insert a wiring harness and to retain it in a mounting hole 12 in a body panel 11, a grommet 10 is so designed that a first cylinder 21 and a second cylinder 22 are connected together via a connector 223, and that a plurality of flanges 25 and guide portions 26 are radially formed. For the grommet 10, when the second cylinder 22 is everted, the flanges 25 are closely attached to the outer face of the first cylinder and are inserted into the mounting hole 12, and do not interfere with the guide portions 26. Then, when reversion of the second cylinder 22 is effected, a groove 24 is fitted into the mounting hole.

  • Patent number: 6240597
Abstract: A grommet is provided for positively mounting a long member (e.g. a wire harness) in such a manner that the long member is passed through a mounting plate such as a panel of a vehicle body. A grommet for passing and holding a wire harness relative a mounting hole formed through a mounting plate includes a first cylindrical portion for passing the wire harness therethrough, a second cylindrical portion connected to the first cylindrical portion through a connection portion, a groove formed in an outer peripheral surface of the second cylindrical portion, and a flange portion formed on that portion of the outer peripheral surface of the second cylindrical portion lying between the groove and the connection portion. A plurality of guide portions, extending radially from the outer peripheral surface of the first cylindrical portion, are brought into contact with an inner peripheral edge of the mounting hole in such a manner that the second cylindrical portion is disposed coaxially with the mounting hole.

  • Patent number: 6211464
Abstract: A grommet is provided for positively and easily mounting a longitudinally shaped member (e.g. a wire harness) in such a manner that the member is passed through a mounting plate such as a panel of a vehicle body. The grommet includes a second cylindrical portion connected through a connection portion to a first cylindrical portion for passing a wire harness therethrough. A groove, formed in an outer peripheral surface of the second cylindrical portion, and flange portions, formed between the groove and the connection portion, maintain the angle of projection of the flange portions with respect to the second cylindrical portion. The second cylindrical portion is turned inside out, so that the flange portions, deformed into a generally tapering, cylindrical shape, are passed through a mounting hole, and then the second cylindrical portion is restored into its initial shape, so that the grommet is located on the panel in a predetermined position.

  • Patent number: 5529151
Abstract: A band brake device used to apply a brake to a rotating drum forming part of an automatic transmission of an automotive vehicle. The band brake device comprises a brake band wrapped around the outer peripheral surface of the rotating drum. A lining material is bonded to the inner surface of the brake band to be contactable with the outer peripheral surface of the rotating drum. The brake band is provided at its movable end with a bracket which is adapted to be pushed by a piston of a hydraulic servo device. The bracket is connected through a link to a casing, so that the movable end is guided to be move in a direction generally parallel with a tangential direction of the outer peripheral surface of the drum at a position adjacent the movable end.

  • Patent number: 5474158
Abstract: A brake system comprising a brake drum having an outer peripheral surface, and a brake band including a flexible band-shaped metal member having fixed and actuation brackets mounted near the opposite ends thereof. The band-shaped metal member is wound around the outer peripheral surface of the brake drum with the fixed bracket being fixed to an anchorage pin. The brake band also includes a lining member fixed on the band-shaped metal member. An actuator is coupled to the actuation bracket for acting a force on the band-shaped metal member to bring the lining member into surface contact with the outer peripheral surface of the brake drum at a speed. Oil grooves are formed in the lining member for discharging oil from a space between the lining member and the brake drum to control the speed at which the lining member comes into surface contact with the brake drum. The oil grooves have an oil discharging capacity increasing as going from the fixed bracket toward the actuation bracket.
