  • Patent number: 5585815
Abstract: A display device includes unit cells, each including a thin film transistor and a pixel, arrayed in a matrix form on a display board. First switching elements are provided at intersections between signal conductor lines and scanning conductor lines, scanning conductor line drive elements driving the scanning conductor lines. Finally, second switching elements are included, one provided between each scanning conductor line and scanning conductor line drive element. Each second switching element is put into an open state in synchronization with a fall in level of an input video signal provided to a signal conductor line to electrically disconnect the corresponding scanning conductor line from the scanning conductor line drive element. Thus, the scanning conductor line drive element is not affected by instantaneous voltage drop on the corresponding scanning conductor line.

  • Patent number: 5546279
Abstract: A flexible wiring board is adapted to be connected with a circuit board by means of an anisotropic conductive film. A flexible substrate of the flexible wiring board is mounted with an integrated circuit and has a generally rectangular connection portion. The connection portion includes a first edge of the substrate and parts of second and third edges adjoining the first edge of the substrate. A plurality of connection terminals are provided in the connection portion of the substrate. These connection terminals extend perpendicular to and arranged along the first edge of the substrate. Opposite end parts including the parts of the second and third edges of the connection portion do not extend beyond the connection terminals located closest to the second and third edges, respectively.

  • Patent number: 5528403
Abstract: A flat type display device is assembled compactly with high reliability. The flat type display device has a liquid crystal panel having electrode terminals on a peripheral portion of one face of the liquid crystal panel, a flexible wiring board having a drive IC mounted thereon for driving the liquid crystal panel, and a common wiring board having electrode terminals on one face thereof. The flexible wiring board is electrically connected to the electrode terminals of the liquid crystal panel. The common wiring board is electrically connected to the flexible wiring board so as to transmit an input signal, which has been received by the electrode terminals from external, to the drive IC.

  • Patent number: 5410494
Abstract: An electronic measuring apparatus is placed on a drawing or other material on which a measuring object is drawn. The apparatus has a main display of a dot matrix liquid crystal display having a touch sensor. A plurality of points corresponding to the measuring object such as a graphic are entered as specific points. A calculating section calculates lengths of a straight line and a curve, an angle between two straight lines, or regional area of a region based on coordinate data of the respective specified points. The calculated results are shown on the main display. With the arrangement, the respective measurings of the length, angle, regional area, and other measuring object are carried out with ease and high accuracy. Moreover, a variety of processings such as unit conversion and scale factor conversion can be carried out only by entering respective specific data.

  • Patent number: 5290197
Abstract: A method for mounting a semiconductor chip on a first wire board, bonding a second wire board to a connecting terminal of the first wire board with a thermo-setting layer of anisotropic conductivity, covering the undersurface and periphery of the semiconductor chip by a first thermo-setting epoxy resin so as to embed and seal the semiconductor chip therein, and cover the connecting part of the first wire board and the second wire board by a second thermo-setting epoxy resin.

  • Patent number: 5016986
Abstract: In a liquid crystal display apparatus, in order to reduce the size and weight, an integrated circuit for driving a liquid crystal is mounted on the glass substrate including the liquid crystal panel either directly or by way of a tape carrier. That is, two glass substrates of liquid crystal panel are mutually overlapped with an offset, and a liquid crystal material is injected into the overlapping regions of the two glass substrates, and liquid crystal display is effected in this region. Further, in the non-overlapping region of the two glass substrates, the integrated circuit is connected either directly or by way of a tape carrier. On the glass substrates, electrodes for varying the optical characteristics of the liquid crystals are provided, and the integrated circuit drives the liquid crystal by controlling the voltage applied to the electrodes. Further transparent insulation films are formed usually formed on the electrodes.

  • Patent number: 4963002
Abstract: A connection construction is provided for connecting a first conductor provided on a first member such as a semiconductor driving device to a second conductor provided on a second member such as a liquid crystal display device driven by the semiconductor driving device, the connection construction including a conductive adhesive deposited on the first conductor, a conductive particle bonded with the conductive adhesive and partly protruding toward the second conductor disposed opposite thereto, and an electrically insulating adhesive for bonding the first member to the second member with the conductive particle contacting the second conductor. The first conductor and the second conductor are electrically connected via the conductive particle, and the first member and the second member are mechanically connected with the electrically insulating adhesive. Thus, a semiconductor driving device (LSI) is, for example, directly connected to a transparent substrate of a liquid crystal display device.
