  • Patent number: 7436174
Abstract: The present invention relates to a rotation angle detector for use mainly in detecting rotation angles of a vehicle's steering shaft, with a simplified and low-cost configuration. For this purpose, a first detection head and a second detection head are disposed perpendicularly to a rotor, and a spur gear formed outside the periphery of the first detection head is allowed to engage with a face gear formed on the bottom face of the periphery of the rotor. This can provide the first detection head with a simplified configuration in which magnetic sensors are provided together with a controller on a single circuit board. The configuration enables the rotation angle detector to perform the detection reliably and cheaply.

  • Patent number: 7382121
Abstract: A rotational angle detector has a rotary body, a first detecting unit rotating in cooperation with the rotary body, a second detecting unit rotating in cooperation with the first detecting unit, and an auxiliary detecting unit rotating in cooperation with the rotary body and the second detecting unit. The rotational angle detector has a first detecting element, a second detecting element, and a controller. The first detecting element detects rotation of the first detecting unit, and the second detecting element detects rotation of the second detecting unit. The controller detects a rotational angle of the rotary body based on a detection signal supplied from the first detecting element and a detection signal supplied from the second detecting element.

  • Publication number: 20070229063
Abstract: A rotational angle detector includes a rotor, a detecting body, a light emitting device, an annular-shaped light receiving device, and a controller. The detecting body rotates relatively to the rotor and is provided with a light transmitting path, which permits light to pass in a direction parallel to a rotating axis thereof. The light emitting device is provided at a position to emit light toward the detecting body in a direction parallel to the rotating axis of the detecting body. The light receiving device is arranged on an opposite side of the detecting body with respect to the light emitting device and outputs a light receiving range. The controller is connected to the light receiving device and detects a rotational angle of the rotor based on the light receiving range output from the light receiving device.

  • Patent number: 7262594
Abstract: A rotation angle detector includes a rotator, a detecting rotator, a magnet, an anisotropic magnetoresistive element, an amplifier, and a controller. The controller connects an output terminal of the anisotropic magnetoresistive element to the ground so as to detect a short circuit between adjacent output terminals based on the difference in output voltage from the amplifier. When there is no short circuit, the controller releases the connection from the output terminal to the ground, and detects the rotation angle of the rotator from the output signal that is differentially amplified by the amplifier based on the output signal of the anisotropic magnetoresistive element.
