  • Patent number: 7281378
Abstract: A compressor active surge control system that includes an air recirculation line that has a first end connected downstream of a compressor outlet and a second end connected upstream of a compressor inlet. The gas recirculation line recirculates compressed air from the compressor outlet to the compressor inlet. Also included in the system is a mixer positioned to receive both ambient air and recirculated air. Mixing of the air homogenizes the air prior to its introduction into the compressor. An air cooler may be included that cools the recirculated air prior to its introduction into the compressor. Cooling and mixing of the recirculated air expands the operating range of the compressor by reducing the incidence of surge. Various existing components, such as intercoolers and filters, may serve the additional duty of cooling or mixing the recirculated air.

  • Patent number: 5144998
Abstract: Semi-solidified metal compositions are stably produced by pouring molten metal into a cooling agitation vessel, agitating it while cooling to produce a slurry of semi-solidified metal composition at a solid-liquid coexistent state and discharging out the semi-solidified metal composition from a discharge port of the vessel. In this case, the cooling agitation is carried out so that a relation of fraction solid, solidification rate and shear rate satisfies the following equation (1).eta.=a/2(1/f.sub.s -1/f.sub.scr).ltoreq.10 (1).

  • Patent number: 4404945
Abstract: A fuel-supply control system for a gas-turbine engine includes a fuel injector opening into an engine combustion chamber, and a reservoir connected to the fuel injector. At least two different lines are each connected at one end to the reservoir. These lines are permitted to pass fuel therethrough to supply the fuel to the combustion chamber via the reservoir and the fuel injector. Metering valves whose number is equal to the number of the lines are arranged each in the lines in such a manner that the lengths of the lines from the corresponding metering valve to the reservoir are different from each other. The metering valves are changed from one of open and closed states to the other when energized. A sensor is provided for detecting a certain engine operating condition. A controller is connected to the sensor for producing a pulse train whose duty cycle depends on the engine operating condition. The pulse train is fed to the metering valves to open them periodically.

  • Patent number: 4075890
Abstract: A device for detecting the level of the molten metal surface within a continuous casting mold. A detector element consisting of a body of a thermosensitive magnetic material, the magnetic properties of which vary in response to a temperature variation, is mounted at an appropriate position on a side wall of the continuous casting mold, and an electromagnetic coil for detecting the magnetic flux in the detector element is contained within a detector box mounted in a water jacket surrounding the mold at a position opposed to the detector element. The molten metal surface level within the mold is detected by detecting a change in the magnetic properties of the detector element by means of the electromagnetic coil. The detector box is detachably mounted in the water jacket, and water supply inlet and outlet means in the detector box guide cooling water through the detector box for cooling the electromagnetic coil within the detector box.

  • Patent number: 3977381
Abstract: An auxiliary flow control valve is disposed in an exhaust gas recirculation passageway at a location upstream of a main flow control valve controlling the flow rate of exhaust gases recirculated into an intake system. Two conduits communicating with an intake manifold communicate with a vacuum chamber of a servo motor controlling the main flow control valve. One of the conduits has formed therein a restriction to limit the flow rate of fluid therethrough. A check valve is disposed in the other conduit to close the same when the vacuum in the intake manifold is increased and constant and to open the other conduit when the vacuum in the intake manifold is reduced.
