  • Patent number: 7829178
Abstract: A delamination development preventable structure is provided to prevent the development of delamination in a sandwich panel including a core and surface plates attached to the opposite surfaces of the core with respect to the thickness of the core. Arresters 5 are protruded inward with respect to directions parallel to the thickness of a core 3 from surface plates 4a and 4b. The development of a delaminated part formed by the separation of a part of the surface plate 4a from the core 3 and that of a delaminated part formed by the separation of a part of the surface plate 4b from the core 3 beyond the arresters 5 can be prevented. Thus delamination can be limited to a narrow local region and the spread of the delaminated part over the entire sandwich panel 2 can be prevented. Thus the development of delamination in the sandwich panel 2 can be prevented and the durability of the sandwich panel 2 can be enhanced.

  • Patent number: 5647741
Abstract: A heat exchanger for a combustion apparatus capable of providing satisfactory sealing between an open end of an oxidizing agent duct and a regenerative structure. A regenerator includes a high-temperature section constituted by a regenerative unit made of a ceramic material and a low-temperature section constituted by a regenerative unit made of a metal material. The regenerator is formed with a plurality of communication passages which permit a combustion chamber and a suction/exhaust duct structure to communicate with each other. The communication passages are provided by a plurality of through-holes formed in the regenerative units. The number of the through-holes and an equivalent diameter thereof are determined so as to permit a pressure loss gradient in the low-temperature section positioned on the side of the suction/exhaust duct structure to be larger than that in the high-temperature section positioned on the side of the combustion chamber.

  • Patent number: 5443700
Abstract: A method for treating waster water containing oil composed of esters, which makes reactivation of spent adsorbent possible or unnecessary, and facilitates treatment of waste adsorbent. In order to realize the above method, oil composed of esters is adsorbed into an electroconductive adsorbent from the waste water, and is converted to water soluble materials by electrolytic hydrolysis using the adsorbent as a part of cathode for separating from and reactivating the adsorbent, or adsorbing step and reactivating step are performed concurrently. In accordance with the present invention, reactivation of spent adsorbent becomes possible and an amount of generated waste decreases remarkably, and generated waste adsorbent hitherto can be readily incinerated because of eliminating adsorbed oil. Secondary waste is not generated because no chemicals are used other than electric power.

  • Patent number: 4612159
Abstract: A nuclear fuel element comprises plutonium-containing fuel pellets filled in a cladding with both end sealed with end plugs. One end plug has a filter at the inside and a passage communicating with the space in the cladding through the filter. The passage is sealed at the surface part of the end plug by welding. The filter and the passage in the end plug are utilized for withdrawing a gas in the cladding filled with the fuel pellets in a process for fabricating the nuclear fuel element. The filter traps nuclear fissionable materials in the cladding to prevent its leakage to the outside. After the withdrawal of the gas, a helium gas is filled in the cladding through the passage in the end plug. After completion of these operations, the passage in the end plug is sealed as mentioned above.

  • Patent number: 4585463
Abstract: A system for recovering resources from sludge in which sludge containing water in the amount of 90 to 70 percent is first supplied to a sludge concentrator through a forced supply equipment where the sludge is concentrated to contain a water content of a maximum of about 60 percent; then is sent to a drying furnace having a fluidized sand bed. The product obtained in the drying furnace is separated to gas and solid. After the separated gas is pressurized by a fan and is heated by a heat exchanger through a circulator passage, a portion thereof is supplied to the drying furnace as gas for drying and the remainder is sent to the sludge concentrator. The water content is then removed from the concentrated gas and the gas obtained from the sludge concentrator is used in the system as gaseous fuel.
