  • Patent number: 5127288
Abstract: A shift control system for a vehicular automatic transmission including a gear train to be set to a plurality of gear stages in accordance with the engaged or released states of a plurality of friction devices.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 12, 1991
Date of Patent: July 7, 1992

  • Patent number: 5113725
Abstract: A hydraulic control device is provided for automatic transmission in a vehicle such as an automobile. The transmission includes a combination of a gear mechanism and friction engaging devices which allows engagement of a particular first speed stage, such as first gear, and a particular second speed stage, such as second gear, according to selective engagement and disengagement of the friction engaging devices. Engine braking is not provided in the first speed stage, but is provided in the second speed stage when an under-D range is selected by the manual shift valve. Low coast upshifting is thus performed more smoothly. The shift from the first speed stage to the second speed stage is also completed more slowly than any other shift.

  • Patent number: 5099718
Abstract: An automatic transmission includes a plurality of frictional engagement means and a gear train including a plurality of rotary members and adapted to be set to a plurality of speeds of different gear ratios in accordance with the engagement/disengagement statuses of the frictional engagement means. The gear train has a plurality of kinds of combination patterns of engagement/disengagement of the frictional engagement means for setting a predetermined speed and the number of revolutions of any of its rotary members can vary according to which of the engagement/disengagement patterns is selected. Speed control means is provided for selecting one of the combination patterns of the frictional engagement means for setting the predetermined speed so as to decrease the fluctuating number of revolutions of the rotary members.

  • Patent number: 4805921
Abstract: A mechanical shaft joint boot integrally made up of a large-diameter ring portion and a small-diameter ring portion with a bellows portion interposed therebetween, and a straight portion connecting the bellows portion with the large-diameter ring portion. The distance 11 between the large-diameter ring portion and the small-diameter ring portion is smaller than the distance l2 between a large-diameter ring mounting portion and a small-diameter ring mounting portion of the joint, and the outside diameter of a first crest of the bellows portion is not larger than the inside diameter of the straight portion. Accordingly, when a shaft of the joint inclines to cause inclination on one side of the boot, a surface pressure being imposed on the first crest is not increased correspondingly, thereby suppressing its wear and enhancing service time of the boot.

  • Patent number: 4738650
Abstract: A flexible shaft coupling comprising drive side connecting elements and driven side connecting elements arranged alternately and equidistantly in an annular orientation, and coupling pieces of annular form linking mutually adjacent pairs of drive side connecting elements and driven side connecting elements, each of both connecting elements being formed of an inner sleeve, an outer sleeve and an elastic intermediate member bonding them, the coupling pieces being formed of a belt strip wrapping around the outer sleeve and an elastomeric body surrounding and covering the wrapped belt strip. The elastic intermediate member is formed as a rubber bushing press-fitted between the inner and outer sleeves and extends only in an axially middle portion of both sleeves, and adjacent to the rubber bushing, intermediate sleeves are fitted to the inner sleeve or outer sleeve. The elastic intermediate member has a compressive strain of 25-40%.
