  • Patent number: 5508158
Abstract: A silver halide photographic light sensitive material comprising a support having thereon a silver halide emulsion layer containing silver halide grains, wherein the silver halide emulsion contains silver halide tabular grains having an aspect ratio of a diameter to a thickness of less than 8 and accounting for at least 70% of the total grain projection area of the emulsion; the tabular grains having a ratio (t/l) of the thickness (t) to the longest distance (l) between two or more parallel twin planes of the tabular grain of not less than 5; total surface of the tabular grain consisting of two parallel principal plane faces and side-faces, and all of the parallel principal plane faces and 90% or less of side-faces are a (111) face.

  • Patent number: 5362618
Abstract: A silver halide photographic light-sensitive material is provided, comprising silver halide-grains which meet the following requirements:(1) the silver halide grains are formed from seed crystals through the growth of the crystals, wherein a silver halide phase formed in each grain, before 30% of the addition amount of silver is supplied, is formed while the intergrain distance of individual silver halide grains contained in the reaction liquor being kept within a range of 0.1 to 2.0 .mu.m;(2) the silver halide grains each have, in respect of distance L from the grain center to the grain surface, a point at which the content of silver iodide becomes maximum within distance L.sub.1 from the grain center to 0.67 L, and a point at which the content of silver iodide becomes minimum within distance L.sub.2 from 0.58 L to the grain surface and, in each grain, the silver iodide content shows a substantially monotonous decrease in the range from L.sub.1 to L.sub.2, and (L.sub.2 -L.sub.1)/L>0.20 is satisfied.

  • Patent number: 4848280
Abstract: An internal combustion engine of the in-line type having a surge tank located above the engine. Intake tubes connect the surge tank with the in-line engine cylinders. The tubes extend from one side of the engine body in a direction away from the engine body and are then curved upwardly in a U-shaped manner toward the surge tank. Surge tank openings and the ends of the intake tubes connected together are both formed as ellipses having a major axis lying in a direction parallel to the cylinder axes. The cross-sectional shape of the intake tubes gradually changes from an ellipse into a circle at approximately the middle or bend of the intake tube.

  • Patent number: 4794885
Abstract: An intake apparatus for an in-line type internal combustion engine having an elongated surge tank extending the full extension of the in-line cylinders of the engine. Intake passages connect the surge tank with the in-line engine cylinders. A throttle body is secured to one side surface of the surge tank. The registering and connected surfaces of the surge tank and the throttle body are mutually inclined an angle .theta. with respect to the medial plane or axes of the in-line cylinders.

  • Patent number: 4315489
Abstract: Rotary piston engine having a main intake port in one side housing of the casing. The side housing is further formed with a supercharging air port which is connected with a supercharging passage leading from an air pump. The supercharging air port is so formed that it is opened substantially simultaneously with and closed later than the main intake port. A timing valve is provided in the supercharging passage to open the passage cyclically so that the supercharging is performed at the end period of the intake stroke. A centrifugal device controls the valve timing so that the valve timing is advanced under an increased engine speed.

  • Patent number: 4278639
Abstract: A catalytic converter for effecting purification of automobile exhaust gases comprises a casing having inlet and outlet, at least two separate catalyst carriers within the casing, a spacer ring element for connecting the catalyst carriers together in longitudinally spaced and aligned relation to each other to provide a single unitary structure of catalyst carriers, and a cushioning layer positioned in compressed sandwich fashion between the unitary structure and the casing.

  • Patent number: 4149774
Abstract: A zoom lens system in accordance with this invention is composed of a first fixed lens group, a first movable lens group, a second movable lens group and a second fixed lens group arranged in this order from front to rear, wherein a stop is are located at the center of the whole lens system and the first fixed lens group and the second fixed lens group consist of the same lens elements and located symmetrically with respect to the stop, and similarly the first movable lens group and the second movable lens group consist of the same lens elements and are located symmetrically with respect to the stop. The first movable lens and the second movable lens are asymmetrically moved with respect to the stop in accordance with the location of the whole lens system that is changed to vary the magnification, whereby the distortion and the focus shift caused by the field curvature fluctuation are eliminated throughout the variable range of magnification.
