  • Patent number: 6688412
Abstract: A control device for in-wheel transmissions in an electric vehicle, each of which comprises a stepped transmission that transmits power from each motor to each vehicle wheel. The control device is arranged to alleviate gear-change shock without increasing the number of steps of the in-wheel transmissions. Gear-change of the in-wheel transmissions of the vehicle wheels is effected with a time difference between the vehicle wheels. The change of acceleration produced by the gear change thereby occurs in such a manner that the change of acceleration is dispersed in regard to time, so the gear-change shock is alleviated compared with the case where gear-change of the four wheels is performed simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 6634986
Abstract: The invention reduces the shift shock of a device equipped with a plurality of prime movers, and provides a power transmission device of a device having a first prime mover (engine) 1 and a second prime mover (motor) 2 as drive sources, which is arranged so that in the process of shifting from the first speed stage to the second speed stage, the increase or decrease in the rotation speed of the first prime mover (engine) 1 is the reverse of the increase or decrease in the rotation speed of the second prime mover (motor) 2. Also, in the process of shifting from a first speed stage to a second speed stage, control is performed so that a torque, which cancels out the inertia torque of one prime mover (engine) 1, is output by the other prime mover (motor) 2.

  • Patent number: 6508738
Abstract: In a transmission which transmits a power from an electrical motor 1 to a countershaft 30 with a speed change, a drive side rotating member which is coupled to a main shaft 10 experiences a rotational change along with the main shaft 10 when a shift from a first speed ratio to a second speed ratio is executed, and an intermediate rotating member experiences a rotational change in a direction opposite to that of the drive side rotating member when the shift is executed. In this transmission, the ratio of the rotational inertia of the drive side rotating member to the rotational inertia of the intermediate rotating member equals the reciprocal of the ratio of the rotational change of the drive source to the rotational change of the intermediate rotating member, the rotational changes being experienced during the shift.

  • Patent number: 6273232
Abstract: In an electric parking lock device having a motor for generating a drive force for engagement and release of a parking lock pawl from a parking lock gear in response to a command output from a selector switch. A compression spring if used for applying a force so as to release the parking lock pawl from the parking lock gear. A shift arm is provided on a side which is closer to an input end of the parking lock pawl than to the compression spring, whereby when driving of the parking lock pawl in a lock releasing direction is effected, the motor side and the parking lock pawl side are connected directly, while when driving the parking lock pawl in a lock effecting direction, the compression spring is interposed between the motor side and the parking lock pawl, so that a manual lock release operation can be performed within a range where the compression spring is allowed to be deflected irrespective of the state of the motor.

  • Patent number: 4785681
Abstract: A gear-change apparatus for a vehicle transmission having multiple forward speed gear trains and one reverse gear train that is established by a slide meshing action of a reverse idler gear. A cam mechanism between the reverse gear shift fork and one of the forward gear shift forks causes that forward gear shift fork to move a small stroke toward gear engagement to engage the synchronizing mechanism to stop or reduce inertial rotation of components within the transmission without actually causing engagement of that forward gear, which function occurs just prior to actual engagement of the reverse gear train. A recess in the interlocking plate permits the small stroke of movement of the forward shift fork. In one embodiment the cam mechanism includes a one-way device to eliminate any substantial resistance to shifting the apparatus out of reverse gear.
