  • Patent number: 4228807
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a biofeedback device which separately extracts the .alpha. wave component and the muscle component included in the brain wave and, therefore, permits the user thereof through auditory perception of associated audio frequency sounds to recognize accurately the appearance in the brain wave of the .alpha. wave component or muscle component on the basis of the principle that exclusive perception of the sound associated with the .alpha. wave component indicates relaxation of the subject's mental state, exclusive perception of the sounds associated with the muscle component indicates tension of the subject's mental state or cephalic state and simultaneous perception of the sounds associated with both components indicates occurrence of a phenomenon having nothing to do with the responses for feedback training.
