  • Patent number: 7998297
Abstract: A tire structural member fabricating method fabricates a tire structural member by successively and contiguously attaching strips 1 to the convex outer surface having an outwardly convex cross section of a forming drum 11 by a strip feed device 21 such that the strips 1 extend obliquely to the center axis C of the forming drum 11. The strip feed device 21 moves parallel to the center axis C of the forming drum 11 at a fixed speed V and feeds strips 1 successively onto the outer surface of the forming drum 11. A controller 40 controls the rotation of the forming drum 11 such that the angular velocity ? of the forming drum 11 varies gradually.

  • Patent number: 7947140
Abstract: A strip member application system for feeding a ribbon-like rubber strip (4) through a clearance between application rollers forming a pair (11), and applying the rubber strip (4) onto a rotational member (2). A guide roller (7) to be wound by the rubber strip (4) is provided on the upstream side of the application roller pair (11), and defines a substantially U-shaped detour path extending downwards. A first and a second auxiliary rollers (6, 8) are arranged on the downstream side and the upstream side of the guide roller (7), respectively. The application roller pair (11) can be swung integrally with the guide roller (7) and the second auxiliary roller (8), within a horizontal plane and about a pivot that is spaced from the guide roller (7) toward the first auxiliary roller (6).

  • Patent number: 7758714
Abstract: A cord-reinforced band 2 having at least one cord 1 is cut into a plurality of cord-reinforced strips 3 of a predetermined length L. The cord-reinforced strips 3 are arranged successively such that side edge parts of adjacent cord-reinforced strips 3 overlap each other and the adjacent cord-reinforced strips are bonded together to form a tire structural member of a pre-determined length with respect to a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal side edges of the cord-reinforced strips 3. The tire structural member manufacturing method uses one and the same extrusion die 14 having an extrusion opening of a fixed width regardless of a pitch at which the cords 1 are arranged. Thus, the tire structural member manufacturing method is simpler.

  • Publication number: 20100043948
Abstract: A cord arranging method using a guide roller and capable of forming annular cord structures of various shapes is disclosed. A guide roller 30 is moved along the surface of a rotating core 13 to guide a continuously fed cord 1 to a continuously changing position on the surface of the core 13 to wind the cord 1 in successively and closely arranged coils to form an annular cord structure. The guide roller 30 is moved two-dimensionally along the surface of the core 13, and the angular position of the guide roller 30 is regulated such that the guide roller 30 presses the cord 1 against the surface of the core 13 always perpendicularly to the surface of the core 13.

  • Patent number: 7487814
Abstract: An object is to provide a tire reinforcing layer forming device which can form, by a single device, plural reinforcing layers whose cord directions intersect one another. A reinforcing material piece 12A, which is distributed to an upper conveying path 72U, is affixed from a left end side of a drum 16 toward a right side, while the drum 16 is rotated in a direction of arrow CW. In this way, the reinforcing material piece 12A, which is affixed to an outer peripheral surface of the drum 16, falls to the right, i.e., rises to the left. Thereafter, similarly, the reinforcing material pieces 12A are successively affixed without gaps, and a first reinforcing layer is formed. Next, the reinforcing material piece 12A, which is distributed to a lower conveying path 72D, is affixed from the left end side of the drum 16 toward the right side, while the drum 16 is rotated in an opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 6613177
Abstract: A strip joint having a required length is produced by obliquely feeding a given amount of a strip of rubberized cords onto a conveyor from a given separated distance, cutting the strip along the conveyor, moving the cut strip piece in a given moving pitch amount through the conveyor, joining a front end portion of a subsequently fed strip piece to a rear end portion of the preceding strip piece, and successively repeating these procedures, wherein the moving pitch amount is adjusted by controlling the movement of the conveyor.

  • Patent number: 6346163
Abstract: An integral sheet member is produced by repeating the steps of feeding a predetermined amount of sheet material to a conveyor from a feed position on one side of the conveyor, cutting the sheet material to form a preceding strip which is transferred by the conveyor, and joining a leading end of a successive strip to a trailing end of the preceding strip. According to the invention, the preceding sheet strip has a transfer path which is branched into at least two directions, thereby forming at least two types of preceding strips. The leading end of the succeeding strip is joined to the trailing end of the preceding strip of a selected type, thereby allowing at least two kinds of sheet members to be produced continuously and highly efficiently, with an improved manufacturing flexibility.
