  • Patent number: 5633211
Abstract: The characteristic of semiconductor devices is satisfactorily maintained because the planarization of a dielectric film of a semiconductor device is carried out at a lower flow temperature. In the case of a silicon dioxide film being a dielectric film, a network structure is composed of atoms of silicon which serve as a main constituent, and of atoms of oxygen which serve as a sub-constituent of a matrix of the dielectric film. These oxygen atoms are replaced by non-bridging constituents such as atoms of halogen including fluorine. This breaks a bridge, via an oxygen atom, between the silicon atoms, at a position where such a replacement takes place. In consequence, the viscosity of the dielectric film falls with the flow temperature. If, for example, part of the oxygen in a BPSG film is substituted by fluorine, this allows the dielectric film to flow at a lower temperature of 850.degree. C. The short channel effects can be suppressed.

  • Patent number: 5181947
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a glass fiber having a polygonal cross section is provided. According to the method, a glass fiber having an orbicular cross section is manufactured by drawing molten glass supplied into a crucible heated at higher temperatures than a softening point of glass out of a nozzle having an orbicular cross section heated at lower temperatures than the heating temperature of the crucible and at higher temperatures than the softening point of glass. Then, the glass fiber is passed through a slit of a twin roller, having a predetermined shape, whereby glass fibers having a polygonal cross section are successively manufactured. The twin roller is heated at slightly higher temperatures than the softening point of the glass.

  • Patent number: 4896569
Abstract: An electronically controlled automatic transmission in which the transmission gear stage and engaging or disengaging operations of a lock-up clutch in a torque converter are determined on the basis of the number of transmission output revolutions and the throttle opening and in which a shifting solenoid and a lock-up solenoid incorporated in the transmission are controlled in. The transmission has a sensor for detecting an input rotational speed. The number of transmission input revolutions output from this sensor and the number of transmission output revolutions are compared with each other, thereby detecting malfunction of a transmission output speed sensor. If the transmission output speed sensor malfunctions, gearshift and lock-up control are performed on the basis of the number of transmission output revolutions calculated from the number of transmission input revolutions and the corresponding gear ratio.

  • Patent number: 4855261
Abstract: This invention relates to a sealing glass for use in bonding glass, ceramics and metals and specifies the composition of a sealing glass which is workable at moderate temperatures and is excellent in transparency and strength. Amorphous magnetic materials have themselves a crystallization temperature and when used in a magnetic head, the amorphous materials undergo crystallization in assembling the head at a sealing temperature higher than the crystallization temperature and becomes not only brittle but also deteriorated in magnetic characteristics so that the head becomes unsuitable for use. The present glass is advantageously used in such a case.
