  • Patent number: 9673639
Abstract: A rechargeable battery management unit (controller) controls a plurality of battery packs. A communication path connects the rechargeable battery management unit and the plurality of battery packs in a daisy chain for packet communication and representing a ring topology. The rechargeable battery management unit sends a fixed-length packet divided into segments so as to flow in one direction on the management data communication path, the number of segments being equal to or more than the number of battery packs. Each of the plurality of battery packs stores data related to the battery pack in a segment assigned to the battery pack in the fixed-length packet received from a battery pack preceding in the management data communication path and sends the fixed-length packet to a succeeding battery pack.

  • Patent number: 9071068
Abstract: An estimation unit estimates the amount of power consumption for each unit period of time. A rechargeable battery control unit controls the rechargeable battery such that an exceeding amount of power worth the amount of power exceeding a target amount of power during a unit period of time is charged into the battery, and power is discharged from the battery during a time zone wherein the target amount of power is exceeded, on the basis of the result of the estimation. When the battery needs to be charged in excess of the upper-limit value, the control unit charges the battery up to the upper-limit value during a time zone wherein the amount of power consumption estimated is light, and the amount of power that exceeds the upper-limit value is charged during a time zone that is close to the time zone wherein the target amount of power is exceeded.

  • Publication number: 20130314095
Abstract: A battery block 12 includes a parallel or series circuit of battery units. Each battery unit is provided with a battery module including at least one secondary battery. Measured voltage values VDET[1]˜VDET[n] and measured current values IDET[1]˜IDET[n]) from the battery modules 1[1]˜1[n] inside the battery units BU[1]˜BU[n] are sent to a main control unit 11. When battery modules 1[1] and 1[2] are connected in parallel, the difference between IDET[1] and IDET[2] is equal to or greater than a predetermined value, and IDET[1]>IDET[2], it is determined that the degraded state of battery module 1[2] has reached a specific state. When the difference between IDET[1] and IDET[2] is equal to or greater than the predetermined value, and IDET[1]<IDET[2], it is determined that the degraded state of battery module 1[1] has reached a specific state.

  • Publication number: 20130285612
Abstract: A charge/discharge control system for a storage battery assembly includes a plurality of battery blocks each connected in parallel to a charge/discharge main bus via protective resistors, and a plurality of switches connected in parallel to the protective resistors, between the charge/discharge main bus and the plurality of battery blocks. In a state in which the plurality of switches are all on, when one of the plurality of switches turns off and a parallel off occurs, a charge/discharge control device performs processing for throttling the charge/discharge power, that flows to the charge/discharge main bus, in accordance with a pre-set reference. When the parallel off is canceled by the throttling processing, the charge/discharge power is restored.
